As announced, we are not heading to the originally planned target (the Google data center construction site); instead, we are setting up in a shadier area due to the extreme heat.A few people have been taken into preventive custody, but the situation is under control.
🎶 On site, a “festive village” is gradually taking shape.
On the agenda: speeches, music, a festive atmosphere… combining activism and popular education with joy.

Quelques personnes ont été arrêtées préventivement, mais la situation est sous contrôle.

Because data centers are major sources of heat and contribute significantly to the urban heat island effect. They operate 24 hours a day, contributing to warmer nights by releasing hot air up to more than 150 meters high.
Data centers contribute to global warming, but they are also vulnerable to it. Due to the presence of numerous electronic components, heat, and fuel oil tanks, there is a risk of fire.In short, join us to voice your opposition to this type of project.

Rejoignez-nous à 17h ici : 50°24'52.5"N 4°35'27.3"E, un endroit ombragé à proximité du chantier de construction du Data Center de Google qui était notre cible initiale.
👉 Pourquoi ce rassemblement stratégique et politique a du sens dans cette canicule ? Car les data centers sont de véritables sources de chaleur et contribuent fortement au phénomène d’îlot de chaleur urbain. Ils tournent 24h/24, participant au réchauffement des nuits, avec des rejets d’air chaud jusqu’à plus de 150 mètres.
Les data centers contribuent au réchauffement climatique, mais ils y sont aussi vulnérables. Du fait de la présence de nombreux composants électroniques, de la chaleur et des cuves de fioul, il existe un risque d’incendie.

🇫🇷 💥 Au vu de la vague de chaleur actuelle, pour se protéger les un⸱es les autres, nous avons décidé de transformer l'action en rassemblement ombragé à proximité du chantier du giga data center Google de Farciennes. Nous maintenons les prises de paroles, rencontres, workshops et la fête. Nous pensons que lutter contre les data centers, ici et ailleurs, reste une urgence politique et écologique. Demain sera l'occasion de lancer une approche plus long terme.
📌Venez par vos propres moyens et en préservant votre anonymat (masque covid ou technique du t-shirt, idéal aussi contre la chaleur).
👉Votre présence demain est primordiale car cette vague de chaleur qui nous oblige à changer nos plans relève directement du dérèglement climatique, et les Data Center participent à cela !

De bijeenkomst zal focussen op speeches, discussies, workshops en muziek. Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat de strijd tegen datacentra, zowel hier als ergens anders, een politieke en ecologische prioriteit blijft. Morgen zal een opportuniteit zijn om een langere-termijn aanpak te lanceren.
📌Doe mee! Kom autonoom, terwijl je je anonimiteit behoudt (met een coronamasker of de T-shirt-methode, die ook ideaal is om koel te blijven).
