Le week-end dernier en Belgique, s’est tenue la première action festive du mouvement Code Rouge contre l’installation de data centers. Entre une vague de perquisitions quelques jours plus tôt, la canicule et les orages, les évènements ont bifurqué de façon inattendue. Petit retour dispersé et photographique sur les enseignements du week-end.

Our victories:
✔️We’ve strengthened our alliances
✔️We’ve debated together and already taken a step towards organising the next action
✔️Following our announcement of the target, Google took disproportionate measures and shut down the site for several days
✔️We witnessed the solidarity of local residents (thank you!).
✔️We also got to dance loads.Our aim is to build alliances, to involve local residents, and to support local campaigns against data centres in Belgium.
♥️ If you feel the need to talk about what you’ve been through, we’d like to invite you to a post-action care event. This will give you the chance to share your experiences. It’s an opportunity to come together and evaluate the action. The care team will provide tools to help you talk about this.

Nos victoires :
✔️Ce rassemblement nous a permis de créer et de renforcer des alliances,
✔️de débattre ensemble et de s’organiser déjà pour la prochaine action.
✔️Suite à notre annonce d’occuper son chantier, Google à renforcé de façon démesurée son enceinte et mis à l’arrêt le chantier pour plusieurs jours.
✔️Nous avons pu observer la solidarité des habitant⸱es du coin (merci !).
✔️Nous avons aussi énormément dansé.
Notre but est de créer des alliances et de générer des luttes locales contre les Data Center en Belgique.

Pourquoi les data centres ont-ils besoin de conserver autant de données? -
🇳🇱 De laatste activisten verlaten vanochtend het terrein na een nacht aan de poorten van het technofascistische imperium.
Ondanks de storm maakt iedereen het goed en kon het feest doorgaan.
💥 Dit weekend hebben activisten en burgers de krachten gebundeld om hun woede te uiten tegen het milieubelastende en obscure project van Google.
Google in Wallonië staat voor AI-algoritmes die onder andere worden gebruikt om menselijk gedrag op grote schaal te analyseren en te voorspellen.
Dit draagt bij aan een toenemende surveillance en manipulatie van de bevolking.
We zullen het onderwerp ‘technofascisme’ niet snel loslaten.

As announced, we are not heading to the originally planned target (the Google data center construction site); instead, we are setting up in a shadier area due to the extreme heat.A few people have been taken into preventive custody, but the situation is under control.
🎶 On site, a “festive village” is gradually taking shape.
On the agenda: speeches, music, a festive atmosphere… combining activism and popular education with joy.

Quelques personnes ont été arrêtées préventivement, mais la situation est sous contrôle.
🎶 Sur place, un “village festif” s’installe petit à petit.
Au programme : prises de paroles, musique, ambiance festive...alliant militance et éducation populaire dans la joie.

They operate 24 hours a day, contributing to warmer nights by releasing hot air up to more than 150 meters high.
Data centers contribute to global warming, but they are also vulnerable to it. Due to the presence of numerous electronic components, heat, and fuel oil tanks, there is a risk of fire.In short, join us to voice your opposition to this type of project.

Rejoignez-nous à 17h ici : 50°24'52.5"N 4°35'27.3"E, un endroit ombragé à proximité du chantier de construction du Data Center de Google qui était notre cible initiale.
👉 Pourquoi ce rassemblement stratégique et politique a du sens dans cette canicule ? Car les data centers sont de véritables sources de chaleur et contribuent fortement au phénomène d’îlot de chaleur urbain. Ils tournent 24h/24, participant au réchauffement des nuits, avec des rejets d’air chaud jusqu’à plus de 150 mètres.
Les data centers contribuent au réchauffement climatique, mais ils y sont aussi vulnérables. Du fait de la présence de nombreux composants électroniques, de la chaleur et des cuves de fioul, il existe un risque d’incendie.

Kom om 17.00 uur naar deze locatie: 50°24'52.5"N 4°35'27.3"E, een schaduwrijke plek vlakbij de bouwplaats van het Google-datacenter, dat ons oorspronkelijke doelwit was.
👉 Waarom is deze strategische en politieke bijeenkomst zinvol tijdens deze hittegolf? Omdat datacenters echte warmtebronnen zijn en sterk bijdragen aan het fenomeen van het stedelijk hitte-eiland. Ze draaien 24 uur per dag en dragen bij aan de opwarming van de nachten, waarbij warme lucht tot op meer dan 150 meter hoogte wordt uitgestoten.
Datacenters dragen bij aan de klimaatopwarming, maar zijn er ook kwetsbaar voor. Door de aanwezigheid van talrijke elektronische componenten, de warmte en de stookolietanks bestaat er brandgevaar.
Kortom, sluit u bij ons aan om uen verzet u tegen dit soort projecten.

🇫🇷 💥 Au vu de la vague de chaleur actuelle, pour se protéger les un⸱es les autres, nous avons décidé de transformer l'action en rassemblement ombragé à proximité du chantier du giga data center Google de Farciennes. Nous maintenons les prises de paroles, rencontres, workshops et la fête. Nous pensons que lutter contre les data centers, ici et ailleurs, reste une urgence politique et écologique. Demain sera l'occasion de lancer une approche plus long terme.
📌Venez par vos propres moyens et en préservant votre anonymat (masque covid ou technique du t-shirt, idéal aussi contre la chaleur).
👉Votre présence demain est primordiale car cette vague de chaleur qui nous oblige à changer nos plans relève directement du dérèglement climatique, et les Data Center participent à cela !

🇫🇷 💥 Au vu de la vague de chaleur actuelle, pour se protéger les un⸱es les autres, nous avons décidé de transformer l'action en rassemblement ombragé à proximité du chantier du giga data center Google de Farciennes. Nous maintenons les prises de paroles, rencontres, workshops et la fête. Nous pensons que lutter contre les data centers, ici et ailleurs, reste une urgence politique et écologique. Demain sera l'occasion de lancer une approche plus long terme.

On Wednesday, the 10th of June, at five, some people had their house searched, were arrested and brought in for questioning. The police broke down their doors, searched their houses, took their phones, laptops and notes, and those of their partners and housemates. This in front of the eyes of their kids, friends, family. A traumatic and disproportionate experience for all those involved. Some people have already been released. Others are still being held.This is once again an example of the states' violent repression. Instead of persecuting companies that are complicit in genocide, ecocide, exploitation and starvation, regular citizens are being forcefully criminalised. Yet another example of the wider authoritarian tendencies of the Belgian state to suppress those who oppose them. We condemn the states depolitisation of our actions by labeling them 'criminal' and 'violent'. Just like we condemn the system that labels protesting kids as rioters and that allows them to be be harassed, beaten, racially profiled and gased in our streets. We want all the people affected by repression to know we stand in full solidarity with them.

Le mercredi 10 juin à cinq heures, certaines personnes ont vu leur domicile perquisitionné, ont été arrêtées et emmenées pour être interrogées. La police a défoncé leurs portes, fouillé leurs maisons, saisi leurs téléphones, leurs ordinateurs portables et leurs carnets de notes, ainsi que ceux de leurs partenaires et colocataires. Tout cela sous les yeux de leurs enfants, de leurs ami.es ou de leur famille. Une expérience traumatisante et démesurée pour toutes les personnes concernées. Certaines ont déjà été remises en liberté. D'autres sont toujours détenues.C'est une fois de plus un exemple de la répression violente exercée par l'État. Au lieu de poursuivre les entreprises complices de génocide, d'écocide, d'exploitation et de famine, ce sont des citoyennes et citoyens ordinaires qui sont criminalisé.es de manière arbitraire. Encore un exemple des tendances autoritaires de l'État, visant à réprimer celles et ceux qui lui résistent. Nous condamnons la dépolitisation de nos actions par l'État, qui les qualifie de « criminelles » et de « violentes ». Tout comme nous condamnons le système qui qualifie les jeunes manifestant.es d'émeutier.ières et qui permet qu'ils et elles soient harcelé.es, violenté.es, victimes de profilage racial et gazé.es dans nos rues. Nous voulons que toutes les personnes touchées par la répression sachent que nous sommes pleinement solidaires avec elles.
Nous ne laisserons pas cette répression nous empêcher de lutter pour un avenir meilleur. Nous appelons les associations et les collectifs à faire front commun avec celles et ceux qui subissent des pressions. La solidarité est notre meilleur rempart contre la répression !

Op woensdag, 10 juni, om vijf uur ondernam de politie huiszoekingen bij enkele burgers. De personen in kwestie werden gearresteerd en voor verhoor meegenomen. De politie brak hun voordeuren open, onderzocht hun huizen, en nam hun telefoons, laptops en notities in beslag, evenals die van hun partners en huisgenoten. Dit alles in het bijzijn van hun kinderen, vrienden en familie. Een traumatische ervaring voor alle betrokkenen. Sommigen zijn inmiddels weer vrijgelaten. Anderen worden nog steeds vastgehouden.Dit toont opnieuw de gewelddadige onderdrukking door onze Belgische staat. In plaats van bedrijven te vervolgen die medeplichtig zijn aan genocide, ecocide, uitbuiting en uithongering, worden gewone burgers met geweld gecriminaliseerd. De Belgische staat onderdrukt burgers die zich verzetten. De autoritaire tendens zet zich duidelijk verder. We veroordelen de depolitisering van onze acties door ze als ‘crimineel’ en ‘gewelddadig’ te labelen. Net zoals we het systeem veroordelen dat protesterende jongeren labelt als relschoppers en toestaat dat de politie jongeren op straat lastigvalt, slaagt, met traangas spuit, en jongeren profileert op basis van hun huidskleur. Wij zijn solidair met iedereen die geconfronteerd wordt met repressie.
De repressie zal ons niet weerhouden om te strijden voor een betere toekomst. We roepen verenigingen en collectieven op om solidariteit te tonen, want solidariteit is onze beste kans tegen repressie!

On Wednesday, the 10th of June, at five, some people had their house searched, were arrested and brought in for questioning. The police broke down their doors, searched their houses, took their phones, laptops and notes, and those of their partners and housemates. This in front of the eyes of their kids, friends, family. A traumatic and disproportionate experience for all those involved. Some people have already been released. Others are still being held.This is once again an example of the states' violent repression. Instead of persecuting companies that are complicit in genocide, ecocide, exploitation and starvation, regular citizens are being forcefully criminalised. Yet another example of the wider authoritarian tendencies of the Belgian state to suppress those who oppose them. We condemn the states depolitisation of our actions by labeling them 'criminal' and 'violent'. Just like we condemn the system that labels protesting kids as rioters and that allows them to be be harassed, beaten, racially profiled and gased in our streets. We want all the people affected by repression to know we stand in full solidarity with them.
