Cape Wrath from 40 years ago this month, the NW corner of mainland Scotland. On a cycling holiday round the northwest and north coasts, I detoured to walk from there to Sandwood Bay and Oldshoremore.

The most amazing place in Scotland? Sandwood Bay, south of Cape Wrath in Sutherland, offers nearly a mile and half of wide pinkish sand backed by huge sand dunes and a loch, plus an impressive sea stack: and a very long walk in. Cape Wrath. Fading light in winter.
I keep coming back to these images of Cape Wrath last winter. Each time the edit gets a little better....but still isn't quite there yet. A work in progress.

Surface Detail. Lyd River
Been thinking about @ijustmightbe 'post about that space where sand and sea meet.
I've long be mesmerised by the movement of water across the bed of a river. The water on #Dartmoor and #CapeWrath is peaty and, in the right light, is a dark gold. Then add the ripples, the reflection from the water's skin, the shadows within the river bed, and suddenly you are presented with abstract beauty.
Or at least I think so.

Looking across Kearvaig Bay to the stack. These cliffs are the tallest on the mainland UK and gave me the absolute fear.
