  1. @silverpill all the cryptos have tradeoffs, the issue with monero is an inflation bug may lay hidden for a long time. also i'm unaware of any layer 2 for monero that would help it scale, but ive not had a chance to research as much as i'd like.

bitcoin is as private as a person makes it, if a person is to lazy to think about privacy and declares to the world they own coins then that's their choice, i actually don't mind the mildly traceable aspect of it, it gives people an incentive to think about operational privacy and not just blockchain privacy. i think its good for holding govts accountable too, people should see what they are doing.

i know that bitcoin Core (layer 1) can operate over tor and i2p but btcpayserver (L2) operates over tor and i don't know if it operates over i2p, if it does support i2p then i'd be super supportive of mitra being compatible with the btcpayserver api.

if #btcpayserver doesn't do i2p i'd personally give priority to that.

  2. Has anyone successfully setup #BTCPayServer to federate over #I2P network, rather than than Tor?

From this resource it would appear not:

While on the topic of #federated systems, aren't #bitcoiners embarrassed that they're on the invasive #MSGitHub platform? This question extends to #fedizens who list the #MicroShaft forge prominently in their bio.

The sooner we use alternative #forges day-to-day, or move to something like #ForgeFed the better.

  3. Anyone in #retail have experience setting up #BTCPayServer?

How difficult is it? How many #lightingChannels does one generally need to have open in order to have lightning payments work reliably?

For those who might not know BTCPayServer is #FOSS and designed for Layer2 Bitcoin, ie. what most people consider as the #LightningNetwork, which is designed to operate over #P2P networks, like Tor, to protect the identity of the payer as best as possible.

...and yes of course there is no substitute for #Bitcoin and running #BitcoinCore and #BTCPayServer on your #gnuLinux over #I2P communication, with at least 15 #LightningNetwork connections that enable hundreds of transactions per second for your #smallBusiness if you require it.

But failing that, as ***many*** do, we must recommend cheques.

...and yes of couse there is no substitute for #Bitcoin and running #BitcoinCore and #BTCPayServer on your #gnuLinux over #I2P communication, with at least 15 #LightningNetwork connections that enable millions of transactions per second for your small business if you require it.

But yes, failing that we now highly recommend cheques.

  6. Just tested the #BTCPayServer connection to #CLN on a #Raspiblitz.
Easy as suggested in the help clues. It is all about the file permissions. Will make an entry in the CONNECT menu about it.
