The distro I work on (#Bottlerocket) is quick to boot.
The project never really aimed to make a fast booting OS, but instead minimized the footprint to make it easier to secure and maintain. Fast booting is a happy side effect.
However, I hear about this aspect of the project all the time from users.
I have to wonder if it's just the measurability of boot time that makes it notable or if it's that people really care about it more than security and maintenance ease.

I want to divide it into three sections: How you add and configure something in your cluster: "setup"; how you use it from day-to-day: "operate"; and how to figure out what is going wrong: ... "troubleshooting" or "troubleshoot"? 🥴
Either way, the inconsistency is driving me bonkers.
How should I label these sections?

It relates the experience of Target (🇦🇺 , not US) had moving from a general purpose OS:
"After we switched over to Bottlerocket, vulnerabilities on the host dropped significantly." ...
"We saw as much as 41% reduction in response times for some customer facing endpoints."

After 10 days of travel, I'm really glad to get back into my home and into my typical routine/tools.
I have a lots of (personal/professional) projects in the pipeline that are so much easier to pull off in my own space.
Look for some interesting stuff around (separately) #3dPrinting, #OpenSCAD, and #bottlerocket!

"Cloud Native Computing Foundation's Technical Advisory Group for Runtime, Special Purpose Operating System Working Group"
...is a cross-organizational group that was recently setup to share knowledge and common topics for OS's like #Bottlerocket that are specifically designed to host container workloads.
If this is of interest, you should join us!

@dizzy It depends on the context.
I work most often with #Bottlerocket on servers at work (which definitely falls into "something else").
For a laptop, it's Debian. (although I daily drive MacOS for various reasons). I have some SBCs with Fedora based installs.
Inside containers I used various other distros.

💥 #Bottlerocket 1.15.0 is now available! This is probably the biggest release of Bottlerocket since we went GA.
A ton of good stuff in this release:
- Secure Boot
- XFS file system
- A new reporting API
- Linux Kernel 6.1
- Compatibility with K8s 1.28 (`k8s-1.28`)
