Louis Moholo-Moholo’s Five Blokes “Uplift the People” CD (Ogun, 2020)
I’ve been listening a lot recently to this man’s music: a fierce, joyful and sometimes melancholy mesh of great players, held together by Moholo-Moholo’s powerful drumming.
Recorded at Cafe Oto on 14 April 2017, this disc features Shabaka Hutchings, Jason Yarde, Alexander Hawkins and John Edwards, all of them on insistent form.
