  1. I watched"The Witcher: Blood Origin" on Netflix yesterday. It's a "limited series", apparently from last year, of four episodes telling the tale of how the first Witcher came to be.

I won't spoil it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It *is* violent and at points gory. But if you enjoy "The Witcher" universe, I highly recommend it.

  2. I have a problem with the review the Guardian puts out. For the same film they'll publish two reviews, one glowing and the other damning.

You could say this is for balance. But really it's for social media clicks. It's cynical.

Plus, they hype stuff only to drop it later with out explanation of what changed their mind (see Rings of Power).

How long before this one is retracted?

  3. I feel like before the executive reshoots and edits there was probably a much better #Witcher #BloodOrigin story where Dylan Moran played an Elfish James Connolly...

  4. CW: The Witcher moderate spoiler

Maybe my brain has softened but I'm rewatching #TheWitcher from the start after watching #BloodOrigin, and this time I'm enjoying it.

Blood Origin is much better in structure and pacing, imo, but at least now I have some understanding of the rules of this world.

I mean, when I realized in episode 4 that we've been given the seemingly chronological story out of order, why?

Maybe 7 and 8 will explain that, but it feels like unnecessary "cleverness".

  5. The most satisfying part of #TheWitcher #BloodOrigin is the diversity of the cast, from the leads, to secondary and minor characters, to background actors.

And not just non-diverse "diversity" (gender and race), but a few featured characters outside the physical norms for any type of entertainment.

One actor is deaf and signed in the show, one is a bad ass killing machine chaotic neutral dwarf, and one has cerebral palsy which wasn't hidden.

I don't think I've seen such in a major production.

  6. Yes, #BloodOrigin was better than the four episodes of #TheWitcher I watched a while back.

Watching the "making of" Blood Origin really helped me understand what the world of The Witcher is all about, something the main series completely failed at.

I'm willing to restart the series and see if having some deep backstory helps make the story better.

I guess they expected only viewers who'd read the books or played the game(s)?

  7. Rewatching some Witcher before launching into the new season and have finally come to a place where I am 100% in favor of Yennefer's blue rope battle dress. Thank you for your patience.

  8. Just binge watched The Witcher: Blood Origin. Really enjoyed it. Good backstory to the creation of the Witchers and the conflict of the races. Will say no more :)

  9. #TheWitcher #BloodOrigin startet leider ziemlich langweilig. Die erste Folge konnte mich nicht überzeugen. Weiß nicht, ob ich das weiterschauen werde :(

  10. Ok, watching the trailers and giving Francesca Mills the "Come with me if you want to live" line is already better than everything I saw in #TheWitcher

  11. I tried to watch #TheWitcher, but the first 2-3 episodes were filled to the brim with overworked tropes and embarrassingly bad.

Seems that maybe #BloodOrigin may be better, based on comments I've read here.

It seems this one isn't about yet another white guy, "strong, silent ladykiller type" who saves the world basically by himself, like The Witcher was setting up to be.

And I have zero time for or interest in that story, *again*.

(Wheel of Time, and The Recruit are recent variations)

  12. The Witcher Blood Origin, 2/5.

Alles in allem kein rewatch Material.

  13. I really enjoyed The Witcher: Blood Origin and would totally watch a whole series focused on Meldof the Dwarf.

  14. I’m about halfway through The Witcher: Blood Origin and really enjoying it. It’s both totally bad-ass and completely fun, which is a departure from the grimdark of the original series. If you like fantasy, don’t pay any attention to the reviews and give it a chance. Also, hot bearded elf Fjall is hot. #thewitcher #bloodorigin

  15. Well, much to my surprise, after the travesty of Season Two of the Netflix #Witcher, I liked #BloodOrigin. I'm not persuaded it was in the least true to Sapkowski's vision, but nevertheless it was a fair piece of work.

  16. Może narażę się dużej grupie fanów fantastyki... Ale podoba mi się Rodowód Krwi.
    Taka lepsza wersja filmów D&D.
    Może to wpływ świątecznego nastroju...?
W każdym bądź razie, dobrze się bawię podczas seansu. 👍

  17. I wish everyone the peace and contentment that I feel at this particular moment in time.

It’s cold outside, and I’m reclined on the couch under my fleece throw about to dive into the new #TheWitcher #BloodOrigin series.
