"The Sandman", season 2, picks up after Dream recovered symbols of his office and the realm, but it kicks off new stories. Season 1 was a bit mediocre to me, which is why it took me so long to get to this one. And how wrong I was, because season 2 is better in my opinion. I really liked the visual side of the world created here. I wish I could write more, but I realised that it's so good that you just need to see it.

Dumah

In Hebrew & Aramaic, it means “silence.”

He’s an angel mentioned in Rabbinic & Islamic literature as an angel who has authority over the wicked dead. He’s popular in Yiddish folklore. I.B. Singer’s Short Friday (1964), a collection of stories, mentions Dumah as a “thousand-eyed angel of Death armed with a fiery rod or flaming sword.

Duma(h) or Doumah (Aramaic) is the angel of silence & the stillness of death. Dumah is also the prince of Hell, & the angel of vindication.

The Zohar speaks of him as having “tens of thousands of angels of destruction” under him & as being “Chief of demons in Gehinnom (Hell) with 12,000 myriads of attendants, all charged with the punishment of the souls of sinners.” 3 angels of destruction are appointed to him. He & his fellow angels torment the sinners every day of the week except on Shabbat. Shabbat is the Jewish Sabbath day. Like the Christian Sunday.

According to hadiths mentioned in Al-Suyuti’s al-Haba’ik, Azrael hands over the souls of the deceased unbelievers to Dumah.

Dumah is the name of the 1 of the 7 compartments of Gehenna.

In the video game Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Dumah is the name of a boss character. He’s the vampire brother of Raziel, & along with Turel is the 1 who is cast into the Abyss on Kain’s orders. In reference to the meaning of his name, when finally confronted, he is killed by vampire hunters, & his corpse is sitting silently on a throne.

Dumah shows up in the TV show & comic book The Sandman (by Neil Gaiman; DC Comics). Specifically in “The Season of Mists.” Dumah, along with Ramiel, becomes the keeper of Hell after Lucifer abandons his throne/realm.

An angel named Dumah appears in the wildly popular CW show called Supernatural (“Carry on my wayward son…” Sorry, we’ll show ourselves out…). In this show, Dumah is portrayed as a woman, played by Erica Cerra.

#Wednesday en #TheSandman seizoen 2 uit. Wednesday was ok, The Sandman had teveel slappe trage afleveringen. Beiden minder dus dan het eerste seizoen. IMHO.

Living is full of meaning and nuance, suggesting that living is about the connections we make with the people we meet. #TheSandman

within the universe of The Sandman, as Death's time with Sexton helps Sexton to realise that life *is* worth living after all.

There's also some nice poignant scenes with Mad Hettie and her lost soul, which holds a surprising connection to her past. The High Cost Of #TheSandman

Death: The High Cost of Living: This is a rather beautiful closure to The Sandman. The episode follows Death's brief friendship with a suicidal journalist called Sexton (Colin Morgan), on her one day off in 100 years. It's basically the film It's A Wonderful Life told #TheSandman

Wednesday night is our "there's feck all on the TV" night so we've finally finished off The Sandman series and it's such a shame to see it end, although good that by my understanding this was due to wanting to keep it true to the source material and not expand it out beyond the original writing too much. So many clever themes and characters.

Next binge-watch we start might be next Wednesday, and might be the second season of Wednesday.

Jenna Coleman's Johanna Constantine, and even Arthur Darvill's Richard Madoc.

Jacob Anderson is solid casting as Daniel Hall, the new Dream. He does a good job at conveying his insecurities as this baby who became a full-grown man in seconds, and how his #TheSandman

A Tale of Graceful Ends: A nice epilogue to The Sandman series. There's not a great deal of plot to it, as it's basically one long funeral for Dream, but it closes off the stories of its expanded cast well. Nice to see familiar faces such as Stephen Fry's Gilbert, #TheSandman

Watched another three episodes of The Sandman which just leaves three to go. Three episodes are about our limit in one go for binge watching shows anyway but when a series is this beautiful to watch with such fabulous characters we also want to prolong the binge as much as possible too.

Family Blood: The first 20 minutes are the highlight here, because Jenna Coleman is just so good as Lady Johanna Constantine. Her quest given by Dream to smuggle Orpheus's head out of Paris is so engrossing, and her friendship with Orpheus is lovely.
The ending is #TheSandman

Buvom pradėję su žmona žiūrėti #TheSandman antrą sezoną. Žmona vidury numetė, pabaigiau vienas. Toks...
Man tai net cringe toks, labiau, nei pats stengiasi.

Finished #TheSandman. Liked it. Season two turned out very different from the first one, I wasn't sure I'd enjoy that. I'd say the first one was more experimental and niche, while the second is more mainstream and mass-compatible. As such, the second one didn't immediately intrigue me, but ended up catching me anyway.

The last episode of The Sandman was absolutely brilliant. I'm so sad there is no more story. What a great show!

The Sandman special episode, Death: The High Cost of Living, just made the pain worse. At least Kirby got a full episode showcase for Death. She's wonderful! 😢

Very much enjoying season 2 two episodes at a time, with just two to go (and I guess a special extra.) I do know what happens to an extent, but it's still good.

real name of 'Wanda' is a nice touch, as it shows how much Dream actually cares despite others viewing him as cold or emotionless.

The Song of Orpheus: This episode started off slow, with a lot of long rambling scenes of characters talking. However, by the end, it became a surprisingly moving episode. Firstly, there's Wanda's funeral, which is imbued with this deep sadness, especially as she's a #TheSandman
