I am for some reason reminded of David Langfords "Different kinds of darkness" - both the short story, and the anthology. Recommended!

huh. So there's now a visual basilisk for AI! David Langford would be proud.

CW: Sarcastic musings on the end of the world
On the bright side, if #AI keeps up like this, we'll soon be able to ask it to create a working version of #Polybius (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polybius_(urban_legend)) and all be driven insane 👍 or a #BLIT (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BLIT_(short_story)). They're both fine options.

CW: Question about a story containing racism & homophobia
So, someone here mentioned #BLIT BASILISK and so I looked it up & read this story http://www.infinityplus.co.uk/stories/blit.htm
Is it a widely known #cyberpunk story? It's certainly conceptually interesting. The protagonist is clearly racist & homophobic & there's references to The Troubles that I can't parse. I dunno if the writer is supporting the protagonist Robbo's views tho?
