  1. Club Furies Review | Windows of Marzahn: _studio416 x Sender Berlin Build MazanA on Snork Enterprises Records

Snork Enterprises brings Sender Berlin back with MazanA, a four-track EP produced in collaboration with _studio416, the collective formed by Sven Elmlund and Hendrik Vaak. The release arrives fourteen years after the Berlin project’s last record, and it does so on the same label that put out that album back in 2012.

Sender Berlin has been around since 1999. The original core, made up of Hendrik Vaak, Torsten Litschko, and Alexander Lukat, welcomed Sven Elmlund in 2024. The project’s first two albums, Spektrum Weltweit and Gestern Heute Morgen, came out on Tresor Records and shaped a trajectory that never settled into a single techno style.

_studio416 is the studio collective of Sven Elmlund and Hendrik Vaak. That’s where the idea of reviving Sender Berlin was born.

_studio416 works as the space where Sven Elmlund and Hendrik Vaak process what Sender Berlin hadn’t touched in fourteen years. The studio sits in Marzahn, far from Berlin’s usual circuits, among the concrete housing blocks built through the seventies and eighties. That environment, hostile at first glance, holds a life of its own. Birds sing, the wind cuts through the concrete pillars, and the city’s noise only becomes noticeable once attention settles on it, past a certain hour.

Hendrik Vaak describes a scene that sums up that relationship between space and production well. While they worked, the lights in an apartment building facing the studio switched on and off, sometimes in time with the music. Some windows stayed lit no matter what. Others never lit up at all. That observation reads as more than an anecdote.

Marzahn’s built environment, with its repetitive architecture and its invisible domestic rhythms, became a material condition of MazanA’s sound. The studio didn’t just house the production, it shaped it. Those strangers’ lights, switching on with no evident pattern to an outside observer, work as a precise metaphor for how Sender Berlin and _studio416 understand techno today, a system that holds together without needing every part to reveal its inner logic.

MazanA keeps Berlin techno as its foundation, danceable without rushing, with excursions into Detroit and dub techno on the opening cuts, and a more spherical, vocal-driven vein toward the close.

The title track carries a heavy conceptual weight, that of the concrete that gives depth to the whole record, translated into a sound that’s hard, cold, massive, and finely polished. It unfolds without a care, like cement left to dry, its power resting in the indifference with which it knows itself unshaken. Sparkling flashes lift the texture, charging it with an electricity that comes and goes, like a pinball.

If MazanA plays with a heavy, raw concrete, true to its essential chemistry and left largely untreated, Concrete Rush demands an electric, agile, polished treatment. The track picks up that same weight and density, but a sound design skillfully lifts it into something fresh, letting it fade out slowly. Noiser’s sound carries a lot of air and floats like a feather through industrial settings and environments, in warehouses as fleeting as they are abandoned. A tense calm arrives and simply is, and flows that way, reaching a sonic flight that’s as reflective as it is electric and metallic.

The Morning holds all the sentimentality and raw, nerve-deep emotion that only well-integrated vocals can pull off. The result blends the aftermath of a night out with the unstoppable arrival of day, carrying all the emotional weight that comes with it, but also a distinct energy and self-awareness that lifts that hour into something nostalgic and enchanting.

MazanA marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sender Berlin. MazanA closes a fourteen-year cycle and opens another almost right away. Remixes from Truncate, Nerk, Syntax Error, and Lyoma are already on the way, promising to stretch the sonic vocabulary Sender Berlin and _studio416 built in Marzahn into other corners of techno. A vinyl edition, still in the works, confirms this return aims to settle beyond the digital format.

Heard as a whole, MazanA pulls off something rare for a comeback. It sounds like genuine continuity and a real beginning at once, without leaning on nostalgia or repeating old formulas. Marzahn’s concrete, lights switching on and off, found its sonic translation in four tracks that hold onto the project’s historical identity while pushing it somewhere new.

  2. CF Signals: Apigenin – Future Proof [Black Hole Transmissions]

Apigenin is the Berlin-based project formed by Solenoid, a three-decade veteran of the techno scene, and his nephew mmoonn, a musician and visual artist. Their collaboration finds a compelling balance between experience and contemporary sensibility, united by a shared fascination with the hypnotic potential of groove. Two generations converge around a common understanding of techno as a language of repetition, immersion, and perceptual transformation.

    https://clubfuries.com.mx/2026/06/07/cfs-apigenin-focused-bht007/

Their second EP for Black Hole Transmissions delves deeper into that territory. Across four compositions, the duo develops a sound rooted in deep textures, functional repetition, and rhythmic structures that favour gradual absorption over immediate impact. Each track explores a different variation of the same principle, the ability of groove to engage both the body and the mind at once.

Future Proof expands upon the atmosphere established by the opening track through enveloping synthesizers and deeply grounded rhythmic patterns. Additional percussive elements introduce movement and spatial depth, while melodic layers evolve patiently toward increasingly immersive states. Every transformation feels purposeful, contributing to a seamless and carefully controlled flow.

From the outset, the level of immersion is striking. The sound gradually surrounds the listener, creating a trance-like state that unfolds to its fullest potential throughout the track. The progression remains steady and deliberate, shaping intricate sonic labyrinths that seem to contain both the mystery and the solution within themselves. Time feels folded and stretched, as if different moments of the composition were coexisting inside the same expanding continuum.

With this second release, Apigenin further consolidates a vision centred on the most immersive aspects of contemporary techno. Rather than relying on immediate formulas, the duo builds its language through precision, patience, and gradual evolution. In Future Proof, that approach reaches a particularly evocative form. The future suggested by its title appears neither as promise nor destination, but as an open territory where every structure, rhythm, and perception is continuously tested.

  3. CF Signals: Apigenin – Focussed [Black Hole Transmissions]

Apigenin is the Berlin-based project formed by Solenoid, a three-decade veteran of the techno scene, and his nephew mmoonn, a musician and visual artist. Together, they strike a compelling balance between experience and contemporary sensibility, united by a shared fascination with the hypnotic potential of groove. Two generations converge around a common understanding of techno as a medium for immersion, repetition, and perceptual transformation.

Their second EP for Black Hole Transmissions delves deeper into that territory. Across four compositions, the duo develops a sound rooted in deep textures, functional repetition, and rhythmic structures that favour gradual absorption over immediate impact. Each track seems to explore a different variation of the same question. How far can a groove carry the listener when given enough time to unfold?

The journey begins with Focused, a piece that immediately establishes the character of the release. Hypnotic sequences, precise percussion, and a restrained sonic architecture create a feeling of continuous forward motion. Nothing feels rushed. Every modulation, microscopic variation, and subtle frequency shift contributes to sustaining tension while the structure evolves almost imperceptibly.

    https://soundcloud.com/clubfuriess/cfs-apigenin-focused-bht007

There is also a sense of depth that extends beyond the purely sonic dimension. The track unfolds across an expanded temporality where past and future coexist within the same current. Echoes of classic hypnotic techno traditions interact with a distinctly contemporary sensibility, creating a compelling dialogue between familiarity and exploration. The result feels almost ritualistic, as though time itself has ceased to fragment and instead flows as a single uninterrupted continuum.

With this second release, Apigenin further consolidates a vision centred on the most immersive aspects of contemporary techno. Rather than relying on immediate formulas, the duo builds its language through precision, patience, and gradual evolution. A space where groove, hypnosis, and depth no longer operate as separate elements, but as different expressions of the same moving force.
