A watchful figure in the canyon. 🌿 This Common Raven was surveying its territory from a park table at Bandelier National Monument, perfectly at home among the volcanic tuff and high desert brush. 🪶⛰️

We took advantage of the beautiful 65° and blue sky day to drive down to Bandelier. We were on a mission to get a new parks pass before the new year. A lovely image of a hummingbird. The 2026 pass has George Washington and the Dump on it - NOPE. Had a picnic outside Juniper Campground with views of Valles Caldera and enjoyed the sunshine. Mission accomplished. The weather is so incredibly out of whack, but I'll savor it for now.

View from inside a cavate at Bandelier National Monument, looking down at Tyuonyi Pueblo. Sunrise had just started hitting the canyon wall across the valley.

Framed in volcanic stone, this was taken from inside a cavate at Bandelier National Monument—part of a once-thriving ancestral pueblo carved into the cliffside.
