#Backcountry #skiing (especially #XCD and other #telemark-based genres) comes with a tough learning curve, demands more dedication and (as we both noted earlier) a lot of experimenting.
Here in Germany, it's hard even to find a shop that can mount 75mm bindings. And I'm not sure that is going to change. I'm sure only a small fraction of today's resort #skiers are going to make the transition... and most of those will try #alpine touring equipment first.
