I don't always agree with Lidia Thorpe, but her protest at the King Chuck event definitely hit. (If you missed it - the British King and Queen have been invading our shores lately and there was a fancy reception last week).
But it's kinda depressing that Pod Save the UK's reporting is better than anything I saw in Aus media (will accept links tho!).

For the first time in 13 years Australia's Head of State is actually in the country.
Had they previously been kidnapped and imprisoned by our nation's mortal enemies? Nope
Unjustly exiled to some remote hell-hole? Nope
In a deep coma following a ghastly crown-related accident, and only revived for the sake of the season six plot twist/cliffhanger? Also nope.
It just hasn't been a priority for them for half a generation.
Bring on the Australian republic.

CW: First step to an #AusRepublic
Growing up we were over-saturated with images of The Queen. There was a framed image in every classroom & office. Until the death there still was in local govt Council Chambers & in houses of State & Federal govt. Early primary school we still sang & played the durge 'God Save The Queen'.
Australia firmly identified itself as a Colony of the British Empire, especially in NSW.
A firm message is being sent around by not having Charles on the $5 note.
It gives some hope & horrified others scared of change, scared to cut the apron strings.
The time is NOW to assert our independance, before we get too entrenched in the propaganda.
#AusRepublic with the PM role as also Head of State. There is no need to replicate an outdated model.

It's difficult for Australia to be a #secular nation if our head of state is also the head of the Church of England.

I am a #software #engineer in #Perth, mostly C/C++ (#CPlusPlus), #Python, learning #Rust and #Golang, dabbled in many others. Interested in image processing, #NLP, sports analytics, with a continuously growing list of side projects which may or may not ever get "finished".
When I'm not doing that I'm a #photographer who occasionally gets paid to shoot #sports events.
And while I have your attention, on a completely different note ...
Australia's Head of State should be an Australian, by birth or by choice.
Any Australian should be able to aspire to be our Head of State.
All Australians should have a say in who is our Head of State
