Back to YA sci-fi and Alechia Dow's wonderful work with this alien invasion story starring a Black biromantic demisexual MC with a secret library. Also: alien/human roadtrip, lots of music and book nerdery, and an instance of two demisexual relating to each other through their aceness that was super well done.

R is for REFUSING COMPULSORY SEXUALITY by Sherronda J. Brown
"A Black Asexual Lens on Our Sex-Obsessed Culture". This is the only non-fiction on my list. I consider this a must read. It's cutting, it's well-documented, it taught me so much and changed the way I related to my aroaceness completely. Cannot recommend enough.

I'll admit, I've not read this one yet!! I even own a physical copy. Anyway, THE POPPY WAR is a dark military fantasy w/ an aroace character and no romance, based on the 2nd sino-japanese war. I'm told to expect a lot of hard hitting feelings and gripping moments.

P is for (A) PROMISE BROKEN by S. L. Dove Cooper
One of the first indie fantasy novels I read, follows a 4 yr old dealing with grief and the thoroughly unprepared aroace uncle who must now care for her. The worldbuilding is gorgeous (and queer!), and this is the sort of slow, rich book you savour one page at a time.
