It’s important to understand the rated occupancy for your space and use this when entering the number of occupants, rather than how many occupants will actually be present in the space.

ASHRAE Standard 241P, Control of Infectious Aerosols provides minimum requirements for HVAC-related measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, influenza, and other airborne viruses in offices, schools, hospitals during periods of high risk. The standard offers guidance for creating healthier environments in buildings where we work, live, and play.

The scope is specifically about mitigating long range transmission. Nothing for short range transmission. Plexiglass is gone, thankfully.

Right at the beginning, it gives you the equivalent outdoor air rates. Looks pretty good.

They finally provide a table for MERV rating and pathogen removal efficiency.

Existing building operation is addressed.
Building Monitoring & Operations - This is where the biggest problem with ventilation occurs. It's designed one way and works for a couple of years. There is no oversight for HVAC mechanics/maintenance technicians. ASHRAE has guidelines for maintaining equipment, but this isn't legally enforced.

ASHRAE Completes Draft of First-Ever Pathogen Mitigation Standard - 4
In Appendix A, they create a standard for safe and effective use of electronic air cleaning equipment. For safety, they provide limits for all the main pollutants, instead of just ozone which is traditionally done.
They require no statistically significant increase from formaldehyde and particulate matter (as well as others).

Fair. I'll raise the ante and argue that INDOOR environmental protection be an #EPA purview. Pretty clear #cdc isn't going to champion the issue, and it's not just #osha of course.
I'm cautiously curious about how the new #ASHRAE cmte pursues its work. And we mere mortals can't wait 6 months for their recs. I'll have #library #CO2Monitor loan program proposal submitted to East #TN libraries first week of January... Plz contact if interested!
