Why is Apple Weather so consistently and confidently wrong?

I mean, a prediction of “no rain today” can’t turn into IRL icy rain within minutes.

Apple Weather shows rain for tomorrow 8am on their map. The app main page doesn’t show rain for tomorrow, only cloudy. Local weather app shows rain for 7-9am. #ios #appleweather #weather #ios17

Im Herbst macht #Apple #iOS18 für alle verfügbar und bietet auch in der #Wetter-App neue Funktionen an. In der Städte-Anzeige zeigt Apple beispielsweise fortan nicht nur die aktuelle #Temperatur, sondern auch die gefühlte Temperatur an. Unklar ist derzeit noch, ob die neuen Features der Wetter-App auch für deutsche Geräte verfügbar gemacht werden.

Regarding the issue I noticed with Apple WeatherKit not returning a 10 day forecast sometimes, @kaidombrowski mentioned that he's seen this recently also and pointed out that you can see this reflected in the Apple Weather app.

Sure enough, at 7:30AM CDT it shows a "daily forecast" with 9 days for Rosemont IL. But at 10AM CDT it shows a "10 day forecast" with 10 days.

Depending on who you trust, according to Apple Weather it's currently -7°C in #Glasgow or -2°C according to MetOffice. Though wind-chill appears to be -6°C so maybe Apple just shows wind chill by default and has no measured temperature?!

For a while now I’ve noticed something is off with Precipitation card in #AppleWeather. It seems that in two places, the data is improperly decimal shifted, which ends up giving the user **very** incorrect reports. I see it on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

In Lincoln, Nebraska today, we have received more than .7” of snow, and we can expect more than .25” more in the next 24 hours. Hope someone on #Apple’s #WeatherApp team sees this. (And yes, I submitted a feedback from within the Weather app, too.)

#AppleWeather is currently misreporting the temperature in #Kvikkjock, #Sweden by over 15° C. Current temperature is below -40°C. This is the difference between being able to be outside in good clothing and getting severe frostbite.

My weather app has given me many a fright

Apple Weather looks great but I wish there was a way to see current storm cells outside my area. If I change the map view to wind, I can see the storms in the ocean with cool detail like wind speed represented by line density.

Im testing using just Apple apps and this is a clear difference from Carrot. That app gives me so much detail about everything, and I don’t have to look very hard.

I don't know if it's just my local area, but lately #AppleWeather has been super hit and miss when it comes to rain predictions.

As of right now, hourly view is showing a 50% chance of thunderstorms in an hour despite a clear radar. I can't say I believe it.

I'd previously been conditioned to believe that the percentage works a certain way (30% is very light rain, 60% is small showers, and 100% means downpour) but now these numbers feel like casino odds.

I guess reporting the current #weather isn't technically 'forecasting' but #AppleWeather telling me it's "dry for 10 days" while it's actually raining on my clean washing (left out from yesterday, mind) is a bit of a conundrum. No rain on their radar view either. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@9to5Mac Everyone disappointed with #appleweather should give #Foreca a try.
