#Owncast is not for video conferencing or any use case where multiple people are wanting to see video of each other. It’s also not a good choice if you have tight real-time requirements as HLS video has inherent delays.

The #APconf event is lacking focus and energy from our "cats" so we will likely have a #fedifourm I talked to these guys during the last event, they are new 'native" from the #twittermigration that
bring the "normal" power politics with them.

An event that pushes liberal #NGO agendas is fine as a part of a balance.

Though we have our "native" libertarian cats so the balance will be a challenge that we need to work on #socialhub

I can't a place to fit this in the funding agender?

Two years ago, for #APconf, I gave a talk about the #ActivityPub ecosystem that was really a talk about the kind of social software infrastructure I think we we need.

In particular, I talk about software infrastructure under our control that optimizes for rich and fulfilling lives.

It's a real broad vision, but I think it might be interesting for people on the network today to watch.

Here's a very interesting one that talks about bringing #groups to the fediverse, so that we could decouple hosting an instance and moderating the content. It also introduces https://bonfire.cafe, which I need to look more into because I'm really intrigued.

#APconf has been recording sessions, they give a reminder to leave off camera and mic and to not chat if one wants to view without participating in the recording

they then give a few seconds to allow for those adjustments and a countdown before starting the recording

Big Blue Button also provides notification that the session is being recorded

#APconf is using a different Big Blue Button room for each presentation

At the end of each session they post a link to the next session in the room chat

That makes it really easy for the audience to continue from one presentation (Q&A really) to the other and presumably allows speakers all the time they need to setup

#apconf its interesting to realize that most activertypub projects have imported the individualistic motivation from the #dotcons ie. its about empowering individuals. the "group" function of instance interest is not really working beyond the level of lifestyle.

Worth thinking about this when trying to fix the "problems"

#apconf am starting to have realizations on the state of the fedvivers and activertypub that the project has been built up to empower individuals with commenertys a slow second.

People are talking about community but its mostly theoretic marginal, in this its a product like the mainstream of the #deathcult

Kudos to @cwebber and @apconf for putting the #ActivitypubConference (#apconf) videos online on #Peertube.

Peertube already gives us a great alternative to #YouTube, but it's problem is a lack of viewers, because of the lack of content uploaded to the platform (& being new).

That's why it's great to see #Apconf help break the catch 22 by sharing their videos at:

Here's hoping we see other conferences follow their lead! (#kde #gnome etc. I'm looking at you!)
