Christianity teaches that pain is external and unnatural, something we must strive to avoid at all costs.
Worse, true relief from pain only comes as a reward for obedience in enduring mortal pain. Ongoing punishment for sin is the godly default, and only a righteous death will release you from it.
This often generates a veneration of suffering and motivates people to pursue it in themselves and others. These inherent contradictions only lead to additional trauma and confusion.
This is why I call it an abuse culture. It is THE root of abuse culture in the West. Secular culture is infected with these core values that run much deeper than rote doctrines, and we have only just begun to unpack it.
An alternate view is that pain is one of many aspects of nature. It's uncomfortable, and we instinctively do try to avoid it, but sometimes it can never be avoided and there is less suffering and even healing in accepting this fact. There is even balance and beauty in pain, as it warns us of damage, protects us from death, and is a necessary aspect of creation and newborn life.
Our ancestors knew this. It is one of the values we were colonized out of.
White unculture sucks at helping us cope with unavoidable pain.

I realized many years ago that the #geekproblem has no clue what to do with the #OMN.
As its value sits outside the narrow value system of tech, platforms and capital, so they simply don't see it, and if you can't see the value, you have little motivation to ask what it could become.
So stop for a moment, step outside the current mess, you need a shovel, as if you don't get to the roots of social problems, they just keep coming back.
The #OMN is about digging into those roots - the structures and habits of the #deathcult that keep reproducing the same mess.
Don't just clean up the shit on the surface, dig.
