  4. Watching more talk from the recent #ActivityPub conference. Here's a very interesting one that talks about bringing #groups to the fediverse, so that we could decouple hosting an instance and moderating the content. It also introduces bonfire.cafe, which I need to look more into because I'm really intrigued.

  6. Dear #apConf2020 video viewers, in case you haven't known yet:
You can easily leave comments below videos using your main :mastodon: / :pleroma: /$APServer account. Video URIs are just post IDs you can put into the client's search bar, retrieve and comment on.

  8. Following the planning session of the (libre, virtual) ActivityPub Conference 2020
I wanted to say 🙌 thankyou to
fosshost.org for joining and being willing to help with the hosting !

  9. Talking to some guy on :birdsite: about the DID stuff we discussed at #ActivityPubConf. He seems to be very blockchain-focussed.
Shall I invite him over to SocialHub or do we want to avoid #BlockchainBros there?

(at least he doesn't seem to be a die-hard AnCap libertarian)

  10. @kaniini While your approach is very different and it's ok to try that out, it would've been really awesome to have you around at the #ActivityPubConf discussions about OCap and decentralisation.

Not complaining, you surely had good reasons, but still a pity.

  11. "In Defense of Unfederated Content" would have been my #ActivityPubConf talk had I attended and had I given a talk.

  13. So where are all of the #ActivityPubConf videos or where are they going to be? I'm pretty surprised to not see #Peertube links popping left and right, but maybe I'm just following the wrong people... 😢

I'm sure there's a lovely PeerTube host out there willing to help with hosting (or a few that federate with each other, if we want to distribute the load)

If you have the footage and getting them edited etc is the issue @cwebber then hit me up.

  15. During #ActivityPubConf #apconf : What are the downsides of #ocaps ?
@cwebber : Well, they can be delegated really easily (but so can ACLs by proxy so ACLs are misleading)

me (in my head) : noooo, ACLs are difficult to delegate in practice and that's what counts. BUT ocaps can also be made difficult to delegate by requiring each action to be signed using a key that is also used for other things !

  17. qwazix.gitlab.io/apconf19-pres holds the "slides" for my presentation. Left click anywhere to go to the next slide. Right click for previous.

Chrome works slightly better because for some reason on ff68 I couldn't make snap scrolling work on the <body> element. It looks better if you have Anonymous Pro installed.

    Visit gitlab.com/qwazix/apconf19-pre for the source.

You can look at the comments for my speaking notes since the slides don't actually say much.

  19. @schmittlauch
It's now both, because once you establish a name, you can never really erase it without breaking the social linked data. This is why the proposal to change the name of a free software image editor is actually controversial, changing names is brutal. Allowing aliased hashtags would help with this. #Activitypubconf #apconf

  21. Mark Miller speaking at #Activitypubconf #apconf : any UI which requires a person to look at a cryptic key is a failure 👏👏👏

  23. Oh no, I suddenly have so many non-German speaking followees, thanks to #ActivityPubConf

The majority of posts and boosts here used to be in German. So what shall I do?

  25. It's inspiring to see so many sparkling eyes, so many different people genuinely do their best to try to change the world. I've heard this phrase countless times in startup pitches and it always seemed empty. I didn't hear it once today but it was in the air and it was filled to the brim with meaning, with hard work, with dreams. I'm extremely honored to be among this crowd and thanks all for the hard work!

  27. I'm so excited to present my work on #Fediverse-wide hashtag federation, search, and subscription at #ActivityPubConf.

The recording will be available later, but if you're interested in enabling a global consistent view on hashtags, know stuff about DHTs or #ActivityPub relays, you can have a look at the paper: git.orlives.de/schmittlauch/pa

Please contact me about any questions, remarks or other feedback!
