“Remah Naji is a Palestinian-Australian, daughter of a refugee and lead organiser of Justice for Palestine Magan-djin (JFP), the main activist group in Queensland for the Palestinian cause. She and six other brave plaintiffs are taking on the state in the High Court of Australia.

The case is a constitutional challenge against a law that Queensland’s Crisafulli government passed in March, colourfully titled the Fighting Antisemitism and Keeping Guns out of the Hands of Terrorists and Criminals Amendment Act. When I was younger I believed that there were greedy, selfish and destructive people and organizations that were trying to take for themselves and there were good organizations that wanted to bring order, fairness and justice to the world.

I believed in entities like the UN, like Amnesty International, like Doctors without Borders, like the BBC, the CBC, NPR, and many others.

I worked with NGOs professionally and donated to the causes that I felt were making the world a better place.

We hear on the news about foreign interference and how countries like China and Russia have used social issues as wedges to tear down trust and support in public institutions. But from where I sit, it's those very institutions that have degraded the trust in them through systemic antisemitism that goes beyond anti-Israel bias into antisemitic policies and actions.

This has long been a bugbear of mine and it is good that the Bondi RC is looking into it.

It doesn’t take a savant to know the difference between #AntiSemitism and the various flavours of #AntiIsrael, #AntiZionism, #Anti-Ultranationalism, and #Anti-NetanyahuRegime, yet arguably smart and competent peeps seem to have a hard time of it; in particular most political leadership in Australia. Which can only mean one thing. THe conflation of all these terms is a #PoliticalChoice made by fully rational decisions. The question then remains: Why is it so?

I suspect that power and wealth has a lot to do with it along with egocentric, not to say narcicyst, tendencies.
