  1. POISON RUÏN (US) + ANGSTMÄLER

OCCII, Sunday, July 19 at 05:00 PM GMT+2

    OCCII SUMMER CLOSING HC/PUNK MATINEE

World’s Appreciated Kitsch proudly presents: POISON RUÏN (US) + ANGSTMÄLER

Poison Ruïn (punk, USA, Relapse Records)

Last minute show at OCCII, at the tail end of their European summer tour!!!

Since their formation in 2020, the Philadelphia band Poison Ruïn have carved out a unique place for themselves on the modern punk and metal scene. And with their latest album, Hymns From The Hills, released this spring, they have truly brought their unique sound to fruition, where themes from the Dark Ages collide with gritty anarcho-punk.

In Poison Ruïn‘s hands, medieval atmospheres and themes are not an escape from reality – on the contrary, they serve as a grim mirror for modern day society, where ordinary people are crushed into the mire by powerful rulers. We find ourselves in the midst of the dark ages, and Poison Ruïn delivers a plague-ridden soundtrack where classic crust punk is mixed with elements of traditional heavy metal, post-punk, black metal and medieval dungeon synth passages.

The anarchic spirit of punk meets dark, gothic atmospheres, whilst the band’s cold and eerie lo-fi sound has led reviewers to draw comparisons with the aesthetic of Norwegian black metal bands such as Darkthrone and Immortal.

With Hymns From The Hills, the band have managed to add more nuance to their sound without compromising on their raw, gritty core. The album has garnered excellent reviews from outlets including Pitchfork, which aptly wrote: “The Philadelphia punks sound like they were swept off to the Middle Ages in a mosh pit and immediately started a revolution”.

    Angstmäler (d-beat, NL)

Blasting out of the bad-to-the-bone backstreets of Haarlem, Angstmäler is brought to you by the same sick and twisted individuals who have unleashed Traumatizer, Robber and Asbest Boys onto this lifeless orb of a planet. Blown-out, feedback-drenched raw d-beat hardcore punk designed to punish a world that is undeserving of mercy and grace. Blow your damn earholes out with this pile of steaming hardcore noise.

  9. Raise The Volume presents: HIATUS (crust, BE) + NÏSTI (doom/sludge, DE) + ANGSTMÄLER (hc punk, NL)

Landbouwbelang, T Keldertje, Maastricht, Saturday, April 4 at 09:00 PM GMT+2

Did you know that Brontosaurus lived 80-90 million years before Tyrannosaurus were walking on Earth? Interestingly enough T-rex went extinct in the late Maastrichtian (!) age, which makes them closer to human time on Earth than to the Bronto one. In my head slow tempos plus down-tuned guitar makes for the soundrtack of the devastation of dinousaurs life. Inevitable extinction of mankind is bound to happen with some punk puking the anarchic lyrics into the microphone in the background. And for day to day life? Well, in crust we trust I guess.

    HIATUS (CRUST, Belgium)

Naighbours that haven't visited for a while. Of course they have much more music, here you can catch the fresh release of well-known cuts, recorded in Białystok, Poland. In grind they crust.

    Bandcamp: https://sanctuspropaganda.bandcamp.com/album/sanctus-propaganda-sessions-vol-6

    NÏSTI (DOOM/SLUDGE, Germany)

Here the tempo is a bit slower, which doesn't mean it gets less heavy. Another neighbours from right across the border, already made themselves memorable playing in LBB last year, now coming back.

    Bandcamp: https://nisti.bandcamp.com/track/sinner

    ANGSTMÄLER (HC PUNK, Netherlands)

These faces y'all (should) already recognize. People known from TRAUMATIZER, INSIDE JOB, ROBBER, ASBEST BOYS coming to Mtown with new noise (or maybe more like new dbeat).

    Bandcamp: https://brainrotterrecords.bandcamp.com/album/4-track-ep

Location: LBB t'Keldertje, Biesenwal 3, Maastricht

    Doors: 9 PM

    Entry: Donation based
