At first, I found this aquatic Alternanthera at a clay extraction site near the city of Bragança, coastal Amazon. Due to incorrectly determined material in other herbaria I couldn't figure out the scientific name until I stumbled on a thesis revising the genus for Brazil: It is A. tetramera R.E.Fr. Accidentally, a student here at the #UFPA pointed me to the natural habitat of these rarely collected plants, freshwater marsh-mangrove ecotones.
