  1. Harvested the first of the melons today and it was fabulous. Really juicy. This is our first time growing melons vertically in the polytunnel and it's definitely something we'll be doing again next year. #allotment #gardening #allotmentuk #growyourownfood

  14. One of those days when I wished I'd worn a hat.

Currently taking shelter in a #greenhouse contemplating the 20 minute.walk home in torrential rain.

The forecast doesn't get any better.

  18. After a most hectic month I finally got time to go to the plot. The wasps have died off (hurray!) so I could tidy the compost heap they'd been calling home. Also managed to harvest the Christmas potatoes and parsnips.

I'll tell you what, there's nothing better than sticking a fork in the ground and pulling up your own potatoes. Magic. #allotmentlife #allotmentuk

  23. The recent snow allowed me to discover the culprit responsible for nibbling the tops off my sprouts… Pigeons! I’m using bits of bramble to deter them, as I’m determined not to net (seen too many wildlife casualties).
