@ai6yr But, now I'm craving one of these. #AlaskaProblems https://www.reddit.com/r/mexicanfood/comments/1p4t34w/machaca_and_egg_burrito/

@tychotithonus East Coasters oblivious to the curvature of the Earth. #AlaskaProblems

@futurebird Temps went from maybe 58°F highs to 75°F-ish yesterday and today and my yard is full of these ladies. Hoping they don't find their way into the house. Roughly 61.6° N Lat. #AlaskaProblems

Today I had to #WellActually the corporate pricing group. Without actually saying it, I came with receipts. I know we're the bastard stepchild district of the company, but I also know you're wrong. The district specialist was copied per their prior request, because history is on my side. Yes, I need a new job. #AlaskaProblems?

I need to take the trail spur RIGHT THERE, but these bitches won't move, so I have to backtrack to the last spur. #AlaskaProblems #AnchorageProblems #Moose

Oh COME ON.

After 3 days of non-stop snow dumping, as of about 10:30pm, the snowfall has finally ended in downtown #Juneau, #Alaska.
I'd estimate about 3 feet total.
The sky is clearing and the temperature is holding just above freezing. Lots and lots of heavy snow everywhere, which I expect will get very hard as temperatures drop overnight.

it's officially time for the old game of playing chicken with the cold.
Let's see how many layers we can wear around the house before we turn the furnace on.
Remember, we're tough Alaskans!
Bwak! bwak! Bwaaaak!

In Anchorage for an ortho appt re: my knee. Killing a few hours in the airport and I can honestly say Silver Gulch has surprisingly good coffee.
My "who the heck cares" post of the day. 😀
PS: The 6AM flight out of Sitka is of the devil.

To be added to the list of what won't ship to Alaska:
A rotary grater. ie. grates cheese, slices veggies, etc.
Boggles the mind.
I've shipped it to friends in the lower 48 who will be coming up in a few weeks, but really?
A cheese grater?
We are the hinter-est of hinterlands folks!

OK. I love Alaska. There's no disputing that on any level. I've lived in Kodiak, Tok and now in Sitka. I've been to Chicken and Eagle and crossed the Arctic Circle...spent LOTS of time in Anchorage and Fairbanks...
But I'm here to tell you: this whole "Midnight Sun" thing is for the birds.
I swear I get no good sleep until Aug/Sept rolls around again and my blessed darkness comes back.
My yearly "there's too much damn sun" whine.

I'm up this morning with a heating pad on my neck and an icepack on my knee. How's your morning going? lol
When I went on my walk yesterday, I wore my wrong cleats. I have three sizes of cleat - Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear.
I wore the Mamas when I should have worn the Papas.
I didn't actually fall, but slipped enough to jack my body up. Ugh. Arthritis sucks regardless, but man!

Alaska problems:
Found a pair of Taos shoes I wanted.
Even included $1.30 for carbon offset.
Got to the shipping portion: $78.00 on a $140.00 order.
The best way to offset carbon is to NOT order at all!
I cannot say RIDICULOUS strongly enough! (There was cursing involved....)
I would gladly pay someone 5 bucks to take the shoes out of the shoebox and put them in a flat rate USPS box.
Problem solved.
