  1. So there was an election here today and the polls closed fully 2 hours ago and in my (urban) riding they have counted...

    30 ballots

Seriously something has gone sideways somewhere even if they say everything is running normally.

What is it? Lack of scrutineers? Is collating results from all the new tabulators used at advanced polls a tricky process?

  2. @Perrin49 I think that is a good idea. The plot of this #ABelection movie is just plodding along like watching paint dry and the story so far just sucks.

  3. Hey, instead of watching the #alberta election I may just watch Up! instead. It's the 14th anniversary of it's release. Balloons always make me happy.

And I can't do a darn thing about the #abelection so there's no use dwelling on the results. I'll be slapped in the face with them soon enough.

    And hey - balloons!

  4. I put my new Canadian citizenship to work ASAP! This easily tied for the quickest voting experience I ever had, and the ballot was unbelievably simple -- so elegant! (v different from all those WI elections!)

@Legopolis told the volunteers about my new citizenship, and everyone applauded! It was really special! #AbElection

  5. “real wage growth in Alberta has been negative since 2019”

beginning precisely when the UCP government gave a $4 Billion gift (yes, with a B) to mostly foreign corporations operating in Alberta.

That’s a $900 gift on behalf of *every *single *person *in *Alberta.
    $4,500 from my household

I don’t understand why ‘ordinary’ Albertans, the Martha and Henry kind, aren’t livid about this.

  6. Re Tommy Douglas, the ‘patron saint’ of New Democrats in Canada:

As the premier of Saskatchewan, his Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) never ran a deficit during 17 years in power and dedicated 10 per cent of provincial revenues to paying down debt built up by the previous Liberal government. Find me a conservative premier who can say the same thing (hint: you can’t).”

  7. “real wage growth in Alberta has been negative since 2019 — you know, when the UCP took over — while neighbouring B.C. [with an NDP government] has seen real wages grow nearly 10 per cent.”

  8. Progressive Conservative leader Peter Lougheed literally running from house-to-house greeting people in a neighbourhood during the 1967 Alberta election.
The PCs went from 0 to 6 seats in that election.
Four years later, Lougheed was premier.

  9. I promise I won't actually deface an election sign, but I am SO tempted to slap this sticker right next to the "re-elect" part of my local candidate's @prasadpandayyc signs. #ABElection #ableg #abelxn #invisible

  10. Why would this be unprecedented Premier Smith? Aren't you and you Convoy supporting yahoos climate and science deniers? When the facts show otherwise you are concerned, b/c you are in an election. The #UCP and their anti-science base are degenerates. #Abpoli #ClimateCrisis #ClimateChange #ABelection

  11. This sign effectively deters undesirables from knocking on my door during election cycles

    Happy election season, Alberta!
