    Here's the diagram btw: social.coop/@smallcircles/1161

The problem of #SolidProject knowing what it is, is more an inherited problem of #LinkedData / #SemanticWeb knowing what it is.

Semantic web always was "if only all information on the web were semantic and machine-readable, then...". And there it stopped. Presumably magic would happen.

And perhaps it would. But to make such a big leap, a paradigm shift of the entire web, along the way you have inspire a whole lot of people to set the (r)evolution in motion and keep it going.

If you look at what linked data is, it is a very low-level format. Nice if you have it, but now what are you going to build with it? There are some good application areas, but the case for linked data elsewhere is not a given.

Still today there are regular discussions on 'what would be the killer app for Solid' or linked data in general. Saw some interest for LLM's fed semantic data to make them more deterministic. I'm not interested.

  8. Does anyone know what a #libuv / #nodejs uv_write_cb status of -89 means? I'm seeing:

    STREAM 18901: do read

Error: ERR_STREAM_DESTROYED: Error [ERR_STREAM_DESTROYED]: Cannot call write after a stream was destroyed

  12. @thisismissem "#DevOps" is definitely worthless as a term. I've got a presentation kicking around somewhere where the thesis is "If you want to create a DevOps team you've already failed".

In a well functioning team there should be no "us vs. them" between the SWE and #SRE people. Both groups are engineers, it's just that the engineering focus is different.

The goal is still the same. Build and deliver services that meet the users' needs, within the #SLOs.

  13. Mastodon currently doesn't support alt text for profile avatars and headers, if you've some rails experience, and you'd like to work on this, this is a good first issue: github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i

    (See Renchap's comment)

Edit: Looks like we may have someone interested in working on this 😄

  15. @nivenly, an organization that supports open-source services and projects, has launched the Fediverse Security Fund. This member-supported program will pay people who identify and fix security vulnerabilities that might affect fediverse services and apps. “Part of the program is…education for project leads, helping them understand why responsible disclosure practices for security vulnerabilities are important,” open source contributor @thisismissem told @Sarahp. Here's her story for @TechCrunch

  16. @thisismissem “After 12 years of coding, I’d somehow become worse at my own craft”

Bingo. And that's why the #ProCraft movement needs to fight this dangerous technology with everything we've got.

(Alas I can't agree with the author when they say this: “I’m not suggesting we abandon AI tools—that ship has sailed.” Personally, I'm waiting for the ship to sink right into the ocean.)

  17. Hmmm, I've an old #NYXCosmetics product "Lid Lingerie Eye Tint" (LIDL107), but it seems to no longer be made...

I really liked the product (held onto the empty tube for years!), can anyone recommend similar?

  22. @robin Five years ago I was arguing with my employer after them trying to vastly change the terms of my employment, they were trying to force me to work from the office even as that became illegal to do so.

Ended up accepting a severance agreement after involving an employment lawyer because I had an airtight case.

Spent the next few months trying to start a company, my previous employer tried to renege on my severance agreement and I reminded them I'd be happy to take them to court.

Also around this time I collected together a care package for the professional Mistress whom I'd later go on to become friends with (and a customer)

  23. I wanted to spend a few Euros monthly to help the open social web.
I ended up donating to Emelia and Iftas. They are both working on trust and safety,
not flashy apps or cool features that a regular user like me would notice often, but vitally important to keep the Fediverse a safe and secure place for everyone.
If you can please consider supporting them or some other project or developer whose work you appreciate.
