Why recent? Are you sure you've read all the great older books?

Have you read Steven Brust's "Vlad Taltos" series? The "Ethshar" series by Lawrence Watt-Evans? Both of those are still being written and published, and they're both great.

Or Barry Hughart's "Bridge of Birds" —have you read that? Roger Zelazny's "Lord of Light", or his "Amber" books? Michael Moorcock's "Eternal Champion" books are classics that have had a major impact on the field of fantasy.

Lord Dunsany's books were groundbreakinging, and they're free and all the major ebook formats on Standard Ebooks and Project Gutenberg.

Have you read "Empire of the East" by Fred Saberhagen? It's unique and very memorable.

I could keep going, but I don't want to overdo it. Still, I'm happy to recommend books anytime!

I finished S. A. Corey's The Mercy of Gods yesterday (actually a reread) and am about a hundred pages into the sequel The Faith of Beasts.
Fun stuff (but not for the characters, they are generally not having much fun). Feeling a little smug because I guessed something that proved to be true (it was easy to guess, I must admit), though all the details haven't been revealed yet.

It's interesting, I've really enjoyed reading on my different ereaders over the years, I still do, but I seem to be drifting back to physical books lately. Ebooks are really convenient, but at least for newer titles they aren't much cheaper than a paperback, if at all.
I also find that I remember physical books better (and audiobooks the least). There's also a certain sense of satisfaction and contentment of looking at my shelves.

  11. It would be cool if I could have Home Assistant and Music Assistant recognise songs playing around me (e.g Vinyl) Shazam style (well, I don't use Shazam so I don't know how good it is), and scrobble the tracks to Last.fm.
I mean, it's not all that important, but it would be pretty nice.

    Suck. Vad göra?

  15. When someone posts about something they've read or watched, but never actually mention what it is, but add a link at the bottom to a blog or whatever, I never click that.
I get too annoyed by the click bait.

  16. My current phone is starting to show signs of old age, and will probably have to be replaced this year. I'm curious about the new Jolla phone, but as a Swede I need the BankID and Swish apps.
As far as I can tell they work in Sailfish, but does anyone have any experience with this?

  17. It feels a bit cruel. I separated a little billy goat from his mother and took him home. His mum and her sister appear to have some sort of agreement, because the dad is apparently courting both in their little enclosure. Here's hoping for a little girl soon, a playmate for my kid-napped (!) goat.

The penned sow is taking forever to drop her litter, but everything is ready for when it happens.

  18. I've been playing Vintage Story on and off for a little less than a year, starting new worlds often.
In my current PT, which I intend to stick with, I've survived my first whole winter without fuss, got two pens with chickens and bunnies respectively, and a small one a short walk off, with a breeding pair of pigs.
Things look good (except my house), but I can't for the life of me find tin.

I never got into Minecraft much but this game is so much fun.

Reading Godkiller by Hannah Kaner and enjoying myself thoroughly. I've been in a reading slump for a while, but this book seems to have pulled me out of it.
Intriguing world building, without describing everything in exhausting detail, revealing more as needed. The main characters are all described well, interesting, and not one-sided, as are the conflicts.
About halfway through now. And I haven't a clue how this will end.

  24. I wanted to spend a few Euros monthly to help the open social web.
I ended up donating to Emelia and Iftas. They are both working on trust and safety,
not flashy apps or cool features that a regular user like me would notice often, but vitally important to keep the Fediverse a safe and secure place for everyone.
If you can please consider supporting them or some other project or developer whose work you appreciate.

  29. This post on Pixelfed about supporting projects and people on the Fediverse got me squirming a bit. I do support the instances I use the most, but I can do better. Not much more, and probably not any amount that would be meaningful, but every little...
    Any suggestions?
If possible, please explain why in simple terms as I would very likely not understand any too technical explanations.
