I slightly dropped the ball - solarcene.community is offline, we had 2 days of pretty grey clouds and didn’t noticed that while I was generating a okayish amount of power I forgot that we are using a lot more (particularly the hydroponics) - battery voltage dropped far enough that the controller shut us down to protect the battery life. Sun is out right now so hopefully will be back online soon.

@karu for the garage the key component is the solar charge controller - I’m using a #victron one and it’s great https://www.victronenergy.com/solar-charge-controllers/smartsolar-mppt-75-10-75-15-100-15-100-20
Then it’s a matter of connecting your battery to the terminals (battery always first) then your solar panels and then your devices. You can use a Bluetooth app to make settings changes and monitor.
The charge controller is key and with spending a little more money on, you want #mppt and #victron is a good brand.

Just watched #WingCommanderTheMovie , I know it’s got terrible reviews and is not faithful to the games/universe but I liked the ‘Pilgrims’ subplot and particularly enjoyed the navigation/jump point concepts. Also they had lots of fun push button dashboards.
Perhaps now it’s #sobaditsgood ?

Family day out today and went to The Mechanical Art and Design Museum in Stratford upon Avon. It was amazing, we all loved the various mechanical art pieces from simple automata to crazy marble runs. I can’t recommend it more! (We were enjoying it so much I didn’t take any pictures)

It’s raining so I thought I’d do some junk electronic exploration. I’ve got a Bush CDVBT2 Freeview Box from 2016. It’s got RF out, RF in, Ethernet, HDMI, Scart and 12V DC in. Opening it up I’ve identified a serial port.

Not really sure what’s happened, thinking about the environment the sensor is in it’s inside a garage attached to a wall, I have been leaving the door open more but I would assume less of a gradual increase and more a jump if it’s air flow related. Can’t see any reference to local #backgroundRadiation changes. Any ideas?

On the #train in the UK, I appreciate that tickets are super confusing particular with #railcards and outrageously expensive but its making me smile how many people are trying to cheat and the ticket inspector is earning their keep by politely pointing out that a grainy screenshot of someone else’s ticket or using someone else’s rail card where the picture is definitely someone else might not work
The hard part is this is a sign that people can’t afford public transport which is just wrong. -
My children are playing an adventure game, they have a compass and are looking for places never explored before - don’t worry they tell me, there are lots of unexplored places as we are pretending to be in the ‘1990s’, on further questioning they think that we might have had black and white tvs then… delightful

First things first when attached to my digital scope #saleae there are no obvious communication on the labelled pins.
Only a single pin changes state on boot, going high for 1.7s
Next I started to pull the pins high and low to see if any thing changes and it turns out that PB2 allows you to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit - this explains the button that is inside the case, you must press it and it pulls it high -
#SolarPump Update - making progress with rebuilding the #rainwater pump, I’ve had to replace the electronics (and managed to reduce the number of parts). I’ve also changed the enclosure and am using a wooden bird box (but will have to block off the opening as no space for birds - they’ve got lots of other boxes nearby).
I think the reason the last enclosure flooded was due to a pump connector leak so I’ve positioned the pump at the bottom and built a small shelf for the electronics.

It’s nice that the evenings are light enough so that when I get back from work I have time to do some watering. And now I don’t have to lug up the water due to my #solarpump that makes it even more pleasurable.

What’s the film genre/name?
I like films where there is a need to build/make/fix something, like The Martian, I particularly enjoy an inspiring montage so even something like Pacific Rim makes me happy (now that sounds a bit like a euphemism!)
I’ve been known to watch a film I know up to the point of said montage and then not bother with that rest.I’d be up for suggestions of what this sort of theme is called and suggestions of films to watch.

Found the issue with the #solarInstance power supply (loose connection) so all fixed and back to normal again.
