This is really not a good look for any backbench Labour MPs who vote not to investigate #Starmer over whether he misled Parliament over #Mandelson.

If they truly believe he did nothing wrong, then surely an investigation is the best way for him to clear his name?

And if they don't believe that, then they are voting for a cover-up, and transparently so. Voters will notice.

If I were #Starmer, and if I were confident that I had acted properly and not misled Parliament, then I would absolutely welcome an inquiry by the Privileges Committee so that I could clear my name.

The way he is so strongly fighting against this inquiry being allowed to happen tells you everything you need to know.

  3. We ordered some new sofas from John Lewis last month. A few days ago they told us they were ready and will be delivered today. Had a text last night saying they would be delivered between 0846 and 1046 this morning.

And now we've had a phone call saying they won't be. We are assured they have been manufactured, but they don't seem to know where they are. Not even if they were in the UK or waiting to be shipped from China.

I wonder if John Lewis use #AI in their logistics?

  4. £662 million.

Isn't it weird how there is never enough money to fix the NHS, fix potholes, fix social care, or properly regulate the energy industry, but there is always enough money for performative cruelty to foreigners?

#Starmer's government is obviously not as chaotic and incompetent as Johnson's government, but honestly I think it's getting to within an order of magnitude of it now.

  12. This is sad to read, and I wonder if there is a vicious cycle going on?

Employers have too many applicants for each job for them to have the time to review them properly, so they use some BS AI that just rejects most of the candidates and doesn't even let them know they've been rejected.

So each applicant has to make up for it by applying for hundreds of jobs, making employers even more swamped.

Your periodic reminder that the UK Parliament has very strict rules about lying. They take these rules very seriously, and you can be kicked out of Parliament and have your pay docked if you break them.

Oh, but just to be clear, it's not lying itself that's forbidden. Oh no. You can lie to your heart's content. No problem at all

It's only calling out lying that's not allowed.

I really hate to agree with #BadEnoch, but she is spot on here:

If it's really true that Starmer knew nothing about how Mandelson was vetted and didn't want to find out, then it is indeed preposterous.

And if it's not true, then Starmer has been telling Johson-level lies.
