There is a logic to Kemi #Badenoch's purge of wets like #GavinBarwell.
For 2 centuries, #Conservatives aimed to be a national party, a broad church allied against rapid change. It worked brilliantly. At most general elections, they won a plurality of votes, and #FPTP gave them a majority of seats.
Now the #Kemisphere is a rump, with less than ⅙ of the seats. Polls predict ⅕ of votes and 1/10 of seats.
Kemi isn't preparing for power. She is purifying her tiny sect.

Yes, @markhburton. In 2003-6, I encountered a few such Tory MPs in parliament who I built a good working relationship with, and came to really value. I learnt a lot from them.
But all of them would be firmly blocked by #Badenoch.

The #ConservativeParty candidate is polling only 1%. The #OfficialMonsterRavingLoonyParty (#OMRLP) would need only about 600 votes to beat the #Tories.
The Loonies did this before. At the May 1990 Bootle by-election, the Loony beat the SDP by 418 votes to 155 (1.2%—0.4%). The SDP dissolved within a week. ❤️

The Right is intent on reversing decades of progressive legislation. The #Trump playbook is operational in the UK. We’ve all known that for some time…and we know how quickly long fought for rights can be obliterated overnight.
This action has to be called out for the discriminatory politics that it is.

‘About 308,000 people are employed directly in businesses such as solar panel installation, home insulation, wind turbine manufacturing and electric vehicles.
