@NJDavidD - Can you name all the pop culture references on my shelf? 😁

Yes, this article is on CNN. That said, it's pretty good and I identify with the author about feeling uncomfortable at Pride events.

Joining #ShoulderSunday to show off where the lab tech got me on Friday morning.

I need a new hat to protect my bald noggin from the sun. I haven't been able to find something I like besides a baseball cap.
Anyone want to recommend one of the online hat shops? It helps if they have hats for larger head sizes (or adjustable).
I've found a few but looking for someone who's actually ordered and received a hat.

I like my apartment except for the times when it feels like there is a breeze coming through it in the winter.
And that's after I've basically sealed up the windows.
Urgh.

Someone at work told me they heard a song from "The Specials" that reminded them of their early college years.
My early college memories of ska are "The Toasters" from the mid-90's. They visited my college campus for a concert. I volunteered on the student programming board so I got to meet the band. When they got off the bus, the first question was about where they could play a quick game of pick-up basketball. So, I ended up playing basketball with The Toasters.
Just turned on their album "Hard Band for Dead" and it brought me right back to that time.

Watched the first episode of True Detective "Night Country" - didn't realize it would be that kind of detective story.
Not a big horror fan but I'm sensing some "Dark" vibes so I might keep going.

Questions today about tradeshows on #AVinTheAM on that other platform.
It's incredible to me how fast we forgot the lessons of the pandemic when it comes to accessibility and neurodiverse individuals being able to "attend" shows. We're right back to 2019.
No virtual component. No nothing for the people who can't travel or even get around the shows easily.
And now, no masks.
Do I think it's helpful to see equipment in person? Sure, if it's a training session for a small group or a curated speaker shootout. Otherwise, tradeshows are just social contests for extroverts and nightmares for us introverts.

Custom Outlook mail rules to the rescue when people decide to play the "reply all" game. Filter by the subject line and send directly to the deleted items folder.
Tip: Replying all to say "Remove me" is not helpful. Outlook will actually warn you that you're about to send an email to over 4000 people.

No spoilers going into this short film. Just know that it's not for kids.
It's all of 13 minutes long. Well worth it.

Mood this morning is about as grey as the sky. Need to find some joy.
Note to self: Listening to a podcast about politics will not help your mood in the morning.
Part of the "Wall-E" soundtrack is now playing....that's a start.

The world does not deserve Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper on New Year's Eve.
It's the random humor, or whatever this is,
you just don't find on TV anymore. -

My Honda dealer loves to remind me when it's time for service and all of the service specials.
Let's see how fast the dealer reaches out about the current recall.

Sunday - a contrast in feelings.
On one hand, I have my band rehearsal. Tonight is the last one before a two week break. I do have a band performance with a different group next week so it's really only a week off without seeing some band mates.
On the other hand, I have work tomorrow. It will be quiet but part of me likes it to be noisy to drown out the doubts.
Add in that it's the end of yet another weekend where I didn't attempt to make any plans or get out to see people.
Sunday (with no sun today!)

Ok, I think I just experienced the worst thing I've ever seen in a webinar.
Presenter turned her cursor into a spotlight over a slide with text on it. It highlighted part of a sentence and darkened the rest of the screen.
Very annoying.

Finished "Joyland". The ending hits hard. And it somewhat comes too quickly but you don't want to admit you saw it coming.
Recommended.
