  12. 8 years of summer heatwaves, in the Alps, are resulting in shrinking 800 to 4,500 year old permafrost and consequent increase in rockfalls.  The mountains are starting to crumble.

    The unusual accessibility of Swiss mountains, most notably Mont Blanc, plus early warning signs from late 90s, that were not ignored, have led to an impressive understanding of what's happening... and it's not good.
