US Top News and Analysis | Google races to put Gemini at the center of Android before Apple’s AI reboot
AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information.
Google is using its latest Android rollout to embed Gemini, its new AI model, throughout the phone, browser, car, and laptop, turning the operating system into an “intelligence system.” Ahead of the Google I/O developer conference, the company previewed Android updates that let Gemini understand screen context, move across apps, and complete multi‑step tasks such as building shopping carts, booking reservations, or generating a barbecue menu and adding ingredients to an Instacart list. The AI acts as an agent rather than a simple chatbot, but it always returns to the user for confirmation before finalizing actions, keeping the human “in the loop.” The features will debut on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Pixel devices this summer and later expand to watches, cars, glasses, and laptops, with Android Auto receiving a Gemini‑powered redesign that includes a major maps update and in‑car task assistance. Google hopes this deeper AI integration will help it compete with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Apple’s upcoming “Apple Intelligence” initiative while maintaining user control over what Gemini can see and do.

@Stefan Bohacek @Blorbo Admin Chicken Yes, I wish more servers had this rule and enforced it.
Officially appointed moderators only go by the server's written rules, and they only enforce them against local users.
The HOA, on the other hand, have some rules in their heads. Everyone has different rules. And they enforce them against everyone, even regardless of where everyone actually is. Like, they attack Friendica users for allegedly misusing the CW field because they neither know that these users are not on Mastodon, much less where they actually are, nor that Mastodon's CW field has been an abstract field on Friendica for seven years longer than it has been a CW field on Mastodon.
This is part of what makes the Fediverse a minefield once your messages start reaching Mastodon.
I can't say that I'll stop being so overly careful with everything and putting such a big effort particulary into image descriptions, summaries/content warnings and hashtags for filter-triggering purposes if more or even most Mastodon servers adopt and enforce this rule. The irony is that this rule actually protects my long hashtag lines.
In fact, rules like these also ought to include that nobody must be policed for writing "too long" posts because there are places in the Fediverse that neither have character limits to worry about nor a character-limiting culture.

#WordWeavers 2026.05.13 — What role does non-romantic love play in your story?
Like yesterday's response, today's is a high level meta answer; specifics would delve into plot. Whilst these responses sound all very planned out, plotted, Machiavellian even, I'm a simple pantser. Character discovery drives the story. Here I'm analyzing the total affect on my stories.
Non-romantic love? An interesting distinction: Basically a love were sex has nothing to do with it? My Reluctance Series stories go out of their way to remove sex as an important factor in love—unless the characters choose otherwise!— meaning all love in the story is essentially the non-romantic sort. Sex? Well humans need to eat and sleep, too? Right? Most characters are very fond of, or go out of the way to be with, others. Many feel connected. They enjoy levels of intimacy with many people, this in a way that our society works hard to make us (i.e., the reader) feel uncomfortably close, or to cause us to worry about upsetting our primary partner, or to worry that friends, family, or co-workers might call us out, embarrass us or ostracize. We live in an hierarchal society strictly structured to provide power to a select few, with set gender roles that control women's freedom and restrict men and force them to act cruel; reluctance series stories poke furiously (though subtly) at that to make the reader reluctantly think, to make them change their context such that they can view the world and themselves differently. The role that non-romantic love plays is to propose that friendship should always be primary in any relationship and, if friendship is neglected, such relationships are destined to fail or, at best, be transient.

Recently decided to play some #games in my #steam backlog. I have been playing #xenonauts. I have never played #xcom so I had no context going in. It has been really fun. I have really been enjoying the tensions and the witty lore dumps that happen as you progress. It also runs very smoothly on the #steamDeck, tho it does need to be docked.

7. #HypnospaceOutlaw
Beaten : Not yet(?)
Playtime : 5hWeird ass game that has a lot of appeal if you're OLD and DESSICATED and know what the early webz was like
You're an unpaid(?) moderator browsing through personal blogs on the hypnospace, basically web but accessible while you sleep thanks to a random device. So far, you wiki crawl random pages and narc on kids breaking copyright laws (lol) or who were bullying eachother or taking down illicit content as the story unfolds
Didnt finish it but plan to so far it seem interesting
