Going through the screenshot comparisons of the new Fight Club 4K...clearly Fincher is deeply insecure about his work. So many tiny pointless little changes; remove a pimple here, add a skyscraper there, move a TV aerial slightly, throw in some lens flares! Utterly bizarre choices.
At least he's disowned Alien 3 so hopefully both cuts of that make it to 4K without being messed with.

Let's have a quick look at the #Varan #laserdisc too. Much less of a kaiju than the massive #Godzilla set but still a lot of fun.
Released in 1998 this Japanese disc contains the film spread over two sides along with the theatrical trailer. Letterboxed, Japanese audio, no subtitles.

I'm way behind on this but at last I've finally caught up with #ThunderboltFantasy - The Final Chapter.
Sad to see this epic wuxia / chunibyo puppet show come to an end...but it was one hell of a ride.
Now please can we get an English language #BluRay release?

It's less than a week until #Highlander 2 day!

After a year of on again off again work I'm glad this project is finally complete just in time for 2024...the year of #Highlander2!
Despite tinkering with video editing in various forms for close to 20 years this is actually my first completed #fanedit.
Look out for #Highlander 2 Rebuild early next year!

Just finished re-watching The Vision of #Escaflowne. It's still one of my favourite #anime, and the Blu Ray looks perfect.
Maybe some day I should check out the film...but it looks very, very different to the anime so I'm not sure what I'd make of it.

I've been rewatching one of my favourite #anime, The Vision of #Escaflowne, and last night we reached episode 19 with that epic ending.
The beautiful artwork, the buildup, the character arcs coming to a head, all choreographed perfectly to Yoko Kanno's incredible "Chain."
We were really spoiled with late '90s anime.

As jarring as the black face scene in #HolidayInn is I can't help but feel that the alt-right would throw a fit hearing some of the lyrics of "Song of Freedom"

Just watched our first proper #Christmas film of the year; #HolidayInn. This year we upgraded to the #4K Blu Ray.
I believe that they couldn't use the original negatives for this one so while it's not as stunning a revelation as Singin' In The Rain it's still a huge upgrade over the hugely compressed Blu Ray that had to share precious disc space with the colourised version.

Not sure when I'll have the chance to listen to the whole of "One Of These Nights" by The Eagles in Dolby Atmos but I just had a listen to the first track and it's a very odd mix.
The stereo vocals along with music is coming out of the front left and right speakers, while the centre speaker is on instrumental duty. Surround speakers are pretty much just backing vocals.
I've only ever heard digitised versions of the old vinyl quad mix but it was more surrounding. Will check out the rest soon.

Usual caveat that I don't have an Atmos setup so I'm listening to the 7.1 core of the Atmos Mix on a 5.1 system...so obviously not the ideal setup...but the track definitely sounds odder than other Atmos mixes I've listened to.
Will be interesting to listen to the rest of the album when I get the chance.

I think the weirdest change Fincher has made to the Fight Club 4K has been found.
Curtain technology must have finally caught up to David Fincher's true intended director's vision in a way that just wasn't possible in 1999.
Utterly unhinged.

Just rewatched the excellent #LastNightInSoho and thoroughly enjoyed it again. It's just been added to UK #Netflix if you still haven't seen it.
It's odd that I picked up on the #Paprika vibes first time round but didn't make the #PerfectBlue connection. #SatoshiKon was certainly an influence.
Between the transitions and bombastic style of this film and the musicality and action of #BabyDriver I still think #EdgarWright would be the perfect choice to direct the #Highlander remake.
