If you’re ever in Huntsville Ontario looking for a place to stay, don’t go to the Holiday Inn Express. Maybe it’s true of all Holiday Inn Expresses; I don’t tend to stay there. But, we did stay there for two nights and the room we got was supposed to have two queen beds. Those beds were definitely NOT queens. My feet dangled off the end all night and I could hang my hands off of both sides without extending my arms all the way. They kept insisting the beds were queens no matter what we said. I was feeling so gaslit. We wondered if we were, somehow, imagining it so we measured the beds and they were doubles. Not possible, they said. The system claims there are no doubles on the premises. Here are Edward and Dorothy Wainer at Val d'Or. I'm not sure who the boy in the middle is. Son? Grandson? Nephew?
But what has me posting this image is the shirt Edward is wearing. It's a white and red t-shirt that says "Meet Me at Rifters." If I zoom in I can see it's associated with Holiday Inn. That makes sense as the boy is wearing a Holiday Inn t-shirt.
Although I was 9 in 1982, I don't recall Rifters. I'm guessing it was the hotel chain's restaurant?

As jarring as the black face scene in #HolidayInn is I can't help but feel that the alt-right would throw a fit hearing some of the lyrics of "Song of Freedom"

Just watched our first proper #Christmas film of the year; #HolidayInn. This year we upgraded to the #4K Blu Ray.
I believe that they couldn't use the original negatives for this one so while it's not as stunning a revelation as Singin' In The Rain it's still a huge upgrade over the hugely compressed Blu Ray that had to share precious disc space with the colourised version.

You may have thought #HolidayInn was a #hotel company... think again:
Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) who own HI & Crown Plaza brands actually own less than 1% of the hotels so branded... another third are run on service contracts for investors; the rest are franchises.
IHG is essentially a brand manager, with some service contracts, but for the most part is benefiting from the rent on the Holiday Inn brand & fees for using centralised booking services...
