In no way surprised but still irked that the order of priority for the release of UK #census data has #health, #disability and #unpaidcare at the bottom of a long list, due in Jan 2023
ONS state:
"As our timetable is planned around user need, it is and will remain flexible".
Can't help feeling that this is a metaphor for how low a priority this is for policy makers
The census maps are super cool though https://www.ons.gov.uk/census/maps

#100DaysOfAirFrying Day 3
Tbh I'm not sure I needed to use the #airfryer today. I live alone, never had a cooked meal daily, not worth the effort.
But novelty value still high, today I cooked a ham.
Slapped on some garlic puree, honey and mustard. 15min at 200C, 30min at 170C.
Some time before end of cooking I was diverted to an elderly neighbour problem so it stayed in air fryer for extra 20mins.
Used fancy digital probe to check temp when got back, all was fine. And more spuds. Yum

Belated pic from Day2 of #100DaysOfAirFrying was my first go at #airfryer chips
With a Pukka Vegan Cheddar and Onion Pie (not that I'm #vegan but wanted to try it).
Not sure about any suggestion that it would help me eat healthier, given I never really fried food anyway, I've a nasty feeling I'm going to turn into a potato.

@StefBenstead I question why charities are providing care at all, if it is not to set an example and be outstanding.
I completely agree #socialcare isn't adequately funded.
I also question why #charities are courting the media with stories about the supposed social care crisis, without addressing their own failings first.
LC have had no care rated outstanding in last two years, but several homes rated #CQCinadequate.
This is another one from July https://api.cqc.org.uk/public/v1/reports/5a580cb5-87bb-40f1-bc1f-715ea102e471?20220719120000

@StefBenstead I'm not sure I buy this line from Leonard Cheshire tbh.
It's not simply about LAs failing to provide real costs (altho that I don't doubt at all) but that is also about LC failing to negotiate effectively with commissioners.
It is also about them running hugely expensive housing stock and providing utterly degrading and inhumane care in some of their homes, such as this one that warehouses over 30ppl https://api.cqc.org.uk/public/v1/reports/9b831bba-6d61-4367-8f81-4ef912dad172?20220218130000

CW: Food #AirFryer
Day 2 of #100DaysOfAirFrying and I've had to stop myself from getting carried away.
I had pumpkin seeds leftover from some soup I made the other day so roasted them with Lemon, Thyme and Cornish Sea Salt.
On recommendation of @garethhevans nuts... well nut and seed mix, coconut flakes, cashews, almonds, sesame seeds, salt, paprika and rosemary... could have done with slightly less time, this was 5mins, think 3 wld do.
Also did tea but phone has died so pics tomorrow #AirFryer

CW: air fryer recipe suggestions
@cherann I just got one yesterday and am documenting #100DaysOfAirFrying to see how much I used it... yesterday I made apple and pear crumble, was so good, today did pumpkin seeds and nuts, chips and a pie.

I've decided to document my first 100 days of life with an #airfryer I know I'm a saddo.
I was so adamant that I didn't need another #kitchen gadget so I'm going to use the hashtag #100DaysOfAirFrying and keep track of my makes (or days when I dont use it) so I can keep tabs on how much I use it and it's impact.
Day 1 today. First impressions are it's big, louder than I was expecting, but awesome.
Apple and pear crumble cooked in 18mins and was definitely the best 12p I spent today

My photos app just reminded me 7yrs ago I was in #Negombo #SriLanka.
My grandfather spent time in #Ceylon (as he'd call it) on route to #Burma or #Myanmar in WW2. Somehow these black and white photos survived and I retraced a few of his footsteps.
He'd rarely talk of his experiences, couldn't, but he was one of the most tolerant and accepting people I knew and detested war.
He stayed in touch with the catholic brothers from this college for decades #photography #photo #blackandwhite

@jtownend @Maggotlaw always happy to tak coroners courts, I think the default assumption is they’re open because in one sense they’re very open, but in another there is so much variation, it’s a little like the Wild West out there at times.
For me personally remote access has transformed how much and what I can cover, it’s been brilliant, altho it concerns me what is missed/goes on mostly unwitnessed where remote access isn’t facilitated #OpenJustice

CW: Death, grief and love
I was blogging at the time of Dad’s illness, he loved the idea that others could hear more about his treatment and rare cancer.
I also blogged about his death, I wish we talked about it more. It was lengthy but peaceful.
I’ve connected with a number of people over the years who’ve found those blogs helpful, always surprises me.
Dad’s eulogy is here https://georgeblogs.wordpress.com/2012/12/07/george-robert-julian-eulogy/ on the off chance anyone fancies a read.

Not sure how many of the people I'm connected to here are interested in #OpenJustice but have read two pieces by @jtownend today that are incredibly relatable/interesting
1) Judith's blog post: The practical reality of open justice and what can be done: reflections on the justice committee’s new report https://openinfoandideas.wordpress.com/2022/11/12/the-practical-reality-of-open-justice-and-what-can-be-done-reflections-on-the-justice-committees-new-report/
2) (Open access) Paper from last year: Remote trial and error: how COVID-19 changed public access to court proceedings https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17577632.2021.1979844 by Judith and @Maggotlaw

@jtownend sorry I wasn't clear, in that I agree, because I don't think it's really so much about resourcing issues or technology if they're offering hybrid hearings that others can attend (and only public/press can't).
Part of me bristles at having to give a reason to attend remotely too, because that feels like #openjustice if those with the power grant it and deem you 'suitable'. Still (relatively) early days though I guess.
-
@jtownend great blog. It definitely feels easier to get remote access to coroner's courts (altho almost always at the coroner's discretion still), but I applied to join a hybrid Care Standards Tribunal hearing last week and was informed that press and public had to turn up in person. Which seems a blanket no and so far from what it could be #transparency #openjustice
