  1. There's something in the water at the DWP: Neil Couling, the director general of DWP services, in a blog post now removed, suggested that the victims of the care-payments-claw-back scandal were really themselves to blame for their situation...

These are people whose lives have be ruined while trying to do the right thing for their loved ones, by laziness & cost-cutting at the DWP.

Its an appalling indictment of the inhumanity of our politics

  6. A reminder (from Ed Davey, LibDems) that carers are still be penalised by the DWP when accidentally crossing the income threshold above which all care payments are clawed back... its been many months since this scandal was revealed & the Govt. claimed it would halt the practice... yes the DWP continue to penalised carers.

The grinding mechanisms of bureaucracy are crushing the normal people just trying to do their best by their loved ones.

  26. In no way surprised but still irked that the order of priority for the release of UK #census data has #health, #disability and #unpaidcare at the bottom of a long list, due in Jan 2023

    ONS state:

"As our timetable is planned around user need, it is and will remain flexible".

Can't help feeling that this is a metaphor for how low a priority this is for policy makers

The census maps are super cool though ons.gov.uk/census/maps

  29. @bbcnews doing a wonderful job today showing the human stories of people who are providing millions of hours of #unpaidcare to disabled family and friends. These are my people, my tribe. We are amazingly strong and inventive, robust and sensitive, and could do well in any job with our experience. We are NOT to be reduced to being labelled '#EconomicallyInactive', because that is a lie - we save the system billions and allow others to have their careers - and insulting!
