    Do I just give up now? Assume I'll never find a traditional publisher or agent, and get on with going down the self-publishing route?

    Across ages & health condtions, the number of applications for has doubled in a year. Acceptance rates stay the same. Other data also shows that severely limiting illness in the working-age population has increased.
