The NTSC "cross hatch" test signal was modulated via #gnuradio into an LD RF signal, demodulated by PAL #Laserdisc player hardware, and displayed on a PAL CRT. The image is not very good, but the test pattern is still easily recognizable.

It works! My via gnuradio generated Laserdisc RF signal could be demodulate by a real Laserdisc Player. 😁

@samirparikh
Thanks. It relies on existing building blocks though, like #MMDVM , #GNURadio and the #DMR trunking controller (DMRTC) which has been in development for more than two years. -

Did a fresh install of GNU Radio yesterday. When I first tried to do this a couple of years back on my MacBook M1 there were all sorts of install problems, but this time with Homebrew clear sailing.
If anyone has a good tutorial on the use of GNU Radio at a medium level of complexity I'm interested. First task is to build my own FM receiver with an RTL-SDR as input. I would also like to do something less obvious.

Way behind on #SOURCE magazine issue 4, but got some wordage down today on a beginners guide to #GNURadio. If you have no idea what I am on about SOURCE is my #payasyoufeel #opensource magazine and the first 3 issues are here. https://sourcemag.co.uk/

Here is a video comparing SSB and FM transmission with and without audio companding. Audio compression actually lowers the SSB single tone output power by about 6-7 dB, but the compressed audio seems more readable across a wider audio range.
Compressor adjustment methodology: a test audio file with normalized audio to -1.0f - 1.0f interval (highest peak at 1.0f), played on a virtual Pulseaudio sink with the play command.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@destevez/115634303927320040
In case you have additions to an #opensource project like @destevez's excellent gr-satellites, the right way is to let "upstream" know about it, and not let these addition lie in obscurity in your favorite forum.
If you need help adding your changes to the upstream repository, **ask**. Seriously, in this case, the whole #gnuradio community would be eager to help you get your SatYAML into gr-satellites.
You help yourself, you help everyone else best that way, and future changes inherently apply. -

GQRX programını Raspberry Pi 5 (8GB) tek kart bilgisayarında yüklü Raspberry Pi OS'tan sonra şimdi de LMDE6 Faye'ye kurdum.
sudo apt-get install gnuradio gqrx-sdr
Biraz farklı görünüyorlar.
LMDE6 Faye'ye Space-dark teması yüklemiştim. Belki fark ondandır. Belki "Enable Band Plan" ikisinde de seçili olduğu halde ondan gösteremiyordur!

Problem reproducing a bug:
Does anyone have a #MacOS machine with #gnuradio installed through standard ways?
Does your audio source work on the first try, i.e., does it just work or at least ask for permission to use the microphone?

@Ea5iyl @oh8hub Agreed, quite a some ham radio software is built and shared by individuals. And many of them are shared in a way that are not inviting to build a community. At least not a community of contributors.
But there are also projects out there ticking all the boxes: version control, contribution guide, project documentation, and just general open source best practises. Projects like #M17project , #OpenRTX, #GNURadio, #FutureSDR to just name a few.
