  2. Node patched eMudhra and Brotli last week, but updating Node only covered part of the problem. Other applications carried their own copies of Brotli or still trusted the compromised certificates, leaving teams with more software to find and fix.

  7. The in-app notification for CodePen AI was fun to make. Penny gets to zoom around the <dialog> in a <canvas> with GSAP to make it smooth.

  8. Props to those who do actual software programming -- everything from designing UIs to actually writing the programs to doing "not sexy" but VERY important things like writing good documentation or debugging, and maintaining existing code.

    Those of us who are left willingly doing this for a living have major obstacles in our path: vibe-coded "AI" slop, needlessly-bloated middleware, intentionally non-optimized software that gives us a bad name, etc.

    That we've not quit by now is a miracle.

    services.slimserver.enable = true;
    # (plus opening TCP port 9000 and TCP/UDP 3484)

    Then performing the setup wizard via http://localhost:9000 (only works via localhost, can also use an ssh port forward for example), then the Squeezebox listed the server on its own everything worked after selecting it. 👍

  14. "Just, like, be a browser" is like saying "just, like, be a building"

    A browser has many functions. A browser can do lots of things for lots of people. Your browser needs will not necessarily be the same as others. Your experience of the web and what you value about it might not be the same as others.

    "Just be a browser" implies a uniformity that doesn't match reality

    "Just be a browser"... makes you sound like a moron.

  18. Thought Control Resonant had a bug because it would reliably stutter every 1 second.

    Actual problem: TV used as a display somehow persuaded Windows to set refresh at 59.94Hz. Manually set it to 60Hz and now everything is smooth again.
