This week I finally got around to getting quotes on replacing my flooring...and it came in twice as high as I was expecting! 😱 Now I have to decide whether to do one floor or nothing at all. 😑

Apparently, I have a little trash panda pilfering from my squirrel feeder. Stevie the cat seems to like the squirrel panda; Apricot, not so much (she growled when she saw it).

Stupid health insurance doing it again: they’re refusing to pay anything for the pre-approved MRI that I had....in January. I submitted an appeal.
But I also cancelled the pre-approved CT scan scheduled for next Tuesday, since I’m 99% certain they’ll pull the same bullshit. Don’t give pre-approval if you’re unwilling to cover it...cause I don’t need approval then. Fucking bastards.

Looks like HealthPartners (insurance company) is going to try to stick me with a $4,500 bill for the steroid injection in my back. 🤬
So much for replacing any of my floors...

First snow and first hard frost of the season. Plus the good 'ol wind is making it feel like 8 degrees F.
Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald on Monday.

Ending my “take no medicine for my back pain” test. Ugh. I guess I have my answer regarding whether the medicine was doing anything.

When the seismic waves from tremors pass through different materials, like surrounding rocks or water, they create subtle electromagnetic fields. Some scientists believe they may be able to find buried liquid water by studying seismic and magnetic readings to reconstruct the aftermath of Mars temblors. https://www.space.com/marsquakes-liquid-water-mars-insight-lander

Infamous ex-pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli is yet again in trouble with the Federal Trade Commission, which announced today that the convicted fraudster has failed to cooperate with the commission's investigation into whether he violated his lifetime ban from the pharmaceutical industry by starting a company last year called "Druglike, Inc." https://arstechnica.com/science/2023/01/ftc-shkreli-may-have-violated-lifetime-pharma-ban-should-be-held-in-contempt/

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” was enjoyable. Ignore the critics who say it builds too slowly and as such is boring. (I mean, if you want your films to be over the top eyecandy from almost the get go, go see Dune instead.)

Don’t explode. Don’t explode. Don’t explode. Don’t explode.

Man, I can feel the snowstorm coming simply by the pain in my forehead.

The plan to save one of the Minnesota's most imperiled species — the ball cactus — is a desperate one. There are only a couple thousand left in the state, and many of those are in active granite quarries where they will eventually be dug up and killed. Nobody has tried planting or re-establishing wild populations in Minnesota before now. https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-endangered-species-ball-cactus-arboretum-big-stone-refuge-wildlife/600306961/

COVID booster 💉 done and the flu shot next week at the work flu clinic!

@[email protected]@kolektiva.social my local food coop has a free seed library outside their store that I was apparently the first person to use. I shared my butterfly weed seeds harvested from my potted plant.

This year’s Moderna COVID shot really seems to pack a punch. Really, really achy today.

✅ COVID shot
Next up: Flu shot...although my employer oddly hasn’t scheduled the annual flu clinic yet, so I guess I’ll just go ahead and get it next Saturday.
Apparently I’m also eligible for the Hepatitis B vaccine, which is a bit of a surprise. It wasn’t flagged in my medical account nor did my doctor mention it at my annual physical in the spring.
