  1. I'm thinking about #proprioception today & how it might relate to my intense dislike of dancing.
I understand that others like dancing & think I can understand why (although it's a very abstract understanding). I even have a version of it in my head where I enjoy the rhythm of it but the moment there's an attempt to translate that from thought to physical act my brain goes from "this is fun" to "I absolutely hate this, make it stop".
    Does anyone else have this?

  2. Less than reassuring that #EdinburghAirport is showing tomorrow's flights as an hour later than they actually are, presumably because their system hasn't been set up to handle DST/BST correctly. No indication on the site re what timezone they're displayed in & I wonder how many people will miss or be scrambling for their early morning flights as a result of this. And of course it filters through to a bunch of 3rd party sites that scrape from the airport departures data. 🙄

  3. So... I guess finding out that your pet's microchip has stopped working 2 days before she's supposed to travel is still better than finding that out at the EU border. 🤯
Can't even blame Brexit for this.

  4. I've heard of mainly in the context of starting or switching tasks, but I wonder if it could apply to environments too. One thing I've found is that every time we move flat, I find the flat hunt the most stressful part because I have to *invest* in the potential new place we apply for. I have to see myself living there & I start imagining how my life will change to accommodate it. And until the contract is signed, I'm all nervy because my new reality might shatter at any moment.

  9. Has anyone flown with their #pet into the #EU (since Brexit, if from the UK)?
I'm trying to find out some info on what happens when you land at the EU point of entry - do the officials just check documents (Animal Health Cert, etc) & scan the microchip to verify identity, or does a vet do a check-up of the #animal?

  10. Do #UK #school kids use #ScientificCalculators for #GCSEs or #ALevels or has it all been replaced by ChatGPT these days?
I found an old #Casio fx-83ES when clearing out my home office (I think from my uni days) & figure I may as well #Freecycle or #Freegle it since it still works.

  11. End of 2 days of a nice family visit & I am now in the expected low mood/funk mode. This is without them even staying in my home. I don't know if I'm getting less tolerant of multi-day as I age or if the COVID years & ongoing WFH have caused my tolerance to atrophy worse than I expected. Fortunately I planned ahead & am taking tomorrow off to recover.
I should point out that it really was a nice visit & this isn't a moan about my family.

  15. It's like 0°C today so of course our local / van is back!

  16. Sometimes my deserves a kick in the ass.

If I've got a deadline, I'll usually try to get ahead of it & build a buffer in case I hit unexpected problems or can't maintain the pace. You'd think this would reduce my stress. You'd be wrong. 🤦‍♀️
Instead, what often happens is that my 🤬-ing idiot brain starts to panic that the buffer isn't enough.
"You've got 2 weeks of work done ahead of time, but what if you get delayed by a month?! You're actually 2 weeks behind!!!" it wails. 🙄

  20. Has anyone else noticed that the new bus stop displays for #LothianBuses in #Edinburgh have a tendency to "lose" the next bus (or 2) a few minutes before it's due to arrive? I've noticed it at a few stops across the city since the new displays were installed. I'm sure the old ones never had this issue.

  21. My brain has been happily belting out " 'Cause I've got an elastic arse!" on repeat all afternoon. 🙄
