I’m seeing a lot of toots from people who came back from #PyConUS2024, and tested negative to COVID. Meanwhile, I’m just back from #PyConIt2024 : I don’t think I was ever that sick in my entire adult life, and I was one of maybe two to three attendees wearing a mask.

Thank you so much to the #PyConUS organizers, attendees, sponsors, and vendors, and the community. We know what it takes to run a big tech conference at the DLLCC and everyone did excellent.
We gave out so many stickers! The Hometown Heroes hatchery subconference presented by @PyDataPGH was an excellent display of what #Python talent we have in our city. We also loved the community organizers summit!

Another #PyConUS video that I care about, the #Python Steering Council keynote. I wasn't on stage this year! because I'm no longer on the SC 😂 but they did cover something I care about a lot: Free-threaded Python #PEP703
I've been pestering the SC a lot to say something about the state of it in 3.14, and boy, did they indulge me. Six and a half minutes of the 30 minute keynote is about the efforts to remove the GIL.

Oh look I made it to #PyConUS! Looking forward to talking _a lot_ about free-threaded Python (PEP 703) and not do any mandatory Steering Council or PSF Board things! 😅
Still more than happy to talk _about_ SC and PSF stuff though! But you will probably get a batch of look-how-cool-and-awesome about PEP 703 for free 😂
