Everyone’s always talking about tach debt. But what about conference debt?? I’ve only caught 38% of #pyconus2025 talks, #SciPy2025 starts tomorrow, and then #europython2025 in less than 180 hours 😫

ICYMI: here’s Finding 2.0 from PyConUS 2025. It’s a hard talk, but one of hope and a few laughs in which we compare software versioning schemes to personal development. It took a catastrophe to find version 2.0, but it doesn’t have to. Hope you enjoy! #pyconus #pyconus2025

I just watched Cory Doctorow's excellent #pyconus2025 keynote: to my mind a powerful presentation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydVmzg_SJLw. Thosewho found it relevant might also like to reflect on Eric Sterling's 2012 #djangocon keynote https://pyvideo.org/djangocon-us-2012/djangocon-2012-keynote-eric-sterling.html.
It's interesting hearing warnings about today's malaise from 13 years ago, to some the generation of technologists that have helped to create it. It wasn't a popular keynote, IIRC.

This was our #rescue #dog Cookie greeting me upon my return from an awesome week at #pyconus2025 :)
(It's the stampy paws and the RROOWF that get me every time. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING LEAVING FOR A WHOLE WEEK? Don't do that again!)

The reentry effect after the #pyconUS2025 sprints. I spent a week surrounded by talented, motivated people and watching them encourage each other to overcome obstacles and excel.
Now I am back in a world where that happens much less frequently.
It's a form of grief, I suppose.
Then, there's the fomo on the Open Spaces I didn't attend and the lightning talks I didn't propose. -
I'm not exactly sure why I've been feeling shy about sharing the link to the recording of my #PyConUS talk, but I have been.
But I did thing! I gave the talk! And if you weren't able to hear it in person, well, gulp, um, here it is to view at your leisure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2bMpiztBxQ

"Have you ever started a Python process, realized that you made a mistake, immediately hit Ctrl+C to interrupt it and then waited a surprisingly long time to get the command line back?
This delay is caused by a bug in the compiled #Python extension.

From my experience the most memorable keynotes include some group singing so I appreciated that the keynote from @drkariljordan ended with everyone singing a variation of "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge. We are all a part of the #Python community.
