Pleased to join the Joint Task Force on Negotiating Openness of Publication Metadata, launched by Barcelona Declaration and OA2020.
Publication metadata locked behind paywalls limits transparency and academic sovereignty. Our task force will develop practical negotiation frameworks and tools to embed metadata openness in publisher agreements.
Co-chaired by Miranda Bennett and Ludo Waltman.

Not much is doing great in the garden right now, but beans are. We have a few Thai long beans and a lot of whippoorwill cowpeas that I pick early and eat as green beans. They love the intense #zone10 heat. I incorporated them into a veggie coconut milk curry with tofu. The lidded dish is by a talented potter named Kate Waltman of Seagrove, NC, a town with a rich history of #pottery making: https://thetrianglestudio.com/about-kate/

RE: https://social.cwts.nl/@cwts/115904424442067560
The #LeidenRanking was featured yesterday in the #NewYorkTimes.
Important to be aware that NYT looked only at the publication output indicator in the Leiden Ranking, not at any of the other indicators. Only very limited conclusions can be drawn from this!

I just published a review of the paper 'Pursuit of Knowledge: A Charter for Academic Renewal' by Paul Rainey and colleagues.
Paper: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17488783
Review: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17770964
Interesting paper, but solution proposed by authors doesn't fully convince me. The paper and my review may be of interest for @CoARAssessment.
Normally I use @prereview to publish my reviews, but in this case that wasn't possible, because paper isn't categorized as preprint in Zenodo.

I just reviewed the article 'PreprintToPaper dataset: connecting bioRxiv preprints with journal publications' by Fidan Badalova, Julian Sienkiewicz and Philipp Mayr.
Article: https://arxiv.org/abs/2510.01783v1
-
In addition to the interesting findings that the authors present about bibliometric reporting guidelines, the article also does a great job in showing the value of open peer review.
This study illustrates why openness should be the default in peer review!

I just reviewed the article 'Analysis of citation dynamics reveals that you do not receive enough recognition for your influential science' by Salsabil Arabi, Chaoqun Ni and B. Ian Hutchins.
Article: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.09.07.556750v3
Review: https://prereview.org/reviews/17335296
I like the empirical work done by the authors, but I disagree with the interpretation they give to their findings.
