I've been playing about with the #Spectre aperiodic #monotile recently. I'm thinking of making them into fired & glazed #ceramic tiles for a wall piece somewhere and, to prepare for that, I've been thinking about whether there are lines I could draw between the sides that'd look pretty (similar to the boardgame "Tantrix")
I built a little #ruby app to make an #SVG of a tiling, so I could experiment — I'm still not 100% happy with the edge pairings, but you might enjoy looking at my work so far!

- I'm comfortable assuming postcards are rectangular in overall shape, and don't have any holes in them (any that do can be amended manually!)
- There's sometimes little pieces of white-ish fluff on the black card; there would need to be made transparent too; though that's not been too tricky (it just makes the NYC example harder)No worries if you're now regretting replying — but if you're looking to be #nerdsniped then you're welcome 😂 (4/4)

Does anyone here use #SecureScuttlebutt apps for building a community? I have #Manyverse installed — I love the concept, the execution, and the idea of the *distributed* tech behind it (public key signed posts that you get directly from their app, or from a follower who’s stored them; no ‘server’) but … it’s a ghost town for me, cos no-one I know uses it!
It’s definitely considerably less polished than mastodon, but I can’t help but fall in love with #distributed over #decentralised.

I’m pretty proud of the #nojs #css only postcard flipping I managed to work out, (with transparent edges & with semantically sane #html!) Though I’ll be damned if I can figure out why Safari decides to do half of the flip in the wrong direction, compared to *every other browser*.
I’ll be adding a map to this lovely little #microsite soon too; and I want to find a way to make it more playful — do share your ideas if you want!
