I got hare-nats wired to use hare-ev now so I can start to really get this more feature complete. It does the very basic connection, publish, and subscribe work. It still needs more love around memory allocations and additional NATS protocol support for credentials, etc.

Basic Auth is getting added to #Henhouse so you can password protect your static site. It will honor a `.htpasswd` file in the root of your site and eventually the dashboard UI will allow you to manage entries in it too.

I got a basic management API built for #Henhouse to be able to programmatically manage profiles, teams, and gather site disk usage information so an external billing system can be built to use this information.

I did basically everything except hardening and tempering a new hammer today. The hole I punched was super clean- I was happy about that. In the photo, you can see the steel with the hole punched. Next to it is the small bit of steel lost from punching. To the right of it is the punch I made last year that I used today.
If I don't go finish it tomorrow, I'll go next Wednesday and can take some photos of the finished hammer.

Yes, sir, the old fashioned way of making high quality products.
I was able to view a translated version by first enabling Closed Captions, then selecting Translate for the captions.

I made a little test piece for what I'm calling a "wine glass stake". The plan is to drive it into the ground and put a stemmed wine glass on top. I'm happy with how it turned out. I eyeballed it, so I was happy when I got it home and a wine glass fit perfectly.

And installed. They hold 1 5/8" bearings that act like rollers under the door which is too heavy for its track. I could have made these out of 2" stock, I think.

Getting some nails together for the straps I posted earlier. I've *hated* making nails. I always seem to get misshapen things with off-center heads and just not enough space for decorative work.
Today I broke the jynx: I just used *way* more material in the heads, and wouldn't you know it they came out much better. Started from 3/4" (18mm) square, and cut off a good 12mm (1/2") of bar to make up the heads. Suddenly they held heat and had enough mass to decorate.

I am exploring and experimenting with creating the ellusive Wolf Tooth Pattern - seen in Viking times but challenging to recreate! Let me know what you think.

My Viking Broad Seax is composited of multiple bars. To maintain pattern flow, I forge a reverse tip. This involves cutting the tip in reverse and then forging it back which allows the pattern to flow along the cutting edge.

And managed to make the second set after finishing up the yardwork!

Today in the smithy. Pretty graunch trivet, which next time I'll make out of 3/8" (10mm) instead 1/2" (12.5mm) stock. It's a bit chonky.
The brackets are for a heavy rolling door. The angled one for the front, the other at the read. Together with the second pair not yet made they will support axles and small bearings to carry the door's weight.
What's most pleasant about these pieces is that forge welding is now firmly in my repertoire. All the welds hit the first time!

The Viking Broad Seax was making good progress but the welds failed. Let's do the forge welding all over again.

When making knives or swords, a lot of time is spent in front of the grinder which generates a lot of dust which not only spreads around your shop but can also go into your nostrils.
In this video, I start making a dust collector for metal dust which is more challenging than just wood dust. Follow along!

Preparing Kebab Barg requires a proper knife. So, let's forge one! This is going to be a mighty blade constructed from both high-carbon steel and wrought iron to give it an authentic feel. Enjoy.

@dustin Ask and you shall receive. Plain little chisels out of a coil spring from a friend's VW Golf. Not much to look at but quick to put together and easy to heat treat.
Also hammered out this little collating vise for another project.

Decorative. After the hinge straps on the door to Sam Yellin's office. Didn't have appropriate curved chisels or round punches, or straight chisel of appropriate bluntness, so I forged those up as well. A good morning.

i ended up ordering two different sized handles that both might fit the smaller hammer. i can use the other one for either another small-to-medium sized straight pein hammer, some other top tool like a slitting chisel or flatter, or something fun like an experimental cooper's driver.
