#30DayMapChallenge Day 20: Water 🌊
No time for complexity today, so I made Invearth. By simply flipping the hillshade to Southeast in #QGIS with the #Mapzen Global Terrain layer, the Himalayas became the deepest trench and oceans turned into habitable land. A small tweak, but the result is an imaginary Earth that feels both alien and strangely possible.

Using the OpenTopography DEM Downloader, I grabbed the Global Bathymetry SRTM15+ V2.1 dataset, calculated 100 m contours, and applied the Tanaka method with a style from the QGIS Hub plugin. 🎨

On #WorldUrbanismDay, I highlight the most paved municipality in the Netherlands: Krimpen aan den IJssel (43.3%), with Kortland-Noord at nearly 53%.
The Imperviousness Map of NL, made by Friedenau Society for Climate Adaptation Services, derived from AHN LiDAR + BGT, was recently released as a 25 cm COG and used in their Neighbourhood Dashboard: https://buurtdashboard-dev.vercel.app/

Last week's workshop on #FAO #WaPOR at #INRAA in Algeria was great! Nice to work with #IHEDelft alumnus Walid Moulahoum & #IWMI colleague Karim Bergaoui to train around 30 participants from the agricultural and water sector on crop #waterproductivity concepts & #opendata analysis in #qgis. Bei #solarpunk geht es doch explizit um die Nutzung neuer #Technologien auf dezentraler Ebene. Das schließt insbesondere auch #Städte und #Quartiere sowie kollektives Handeln (#genossenschaften fallen mir spontan ein) mit ein Und nicht nur die Ökozelle auf dem Land ;-)
