  1. In other #DVCS news, Canonical is dropping Bazaar from Launchpad: omgubuntu.co.uk/2025/06/launch

    "Canonical sunsetting Bazaar may seem abrupt given it’s the code versioning system it helped develop and continues to make use of for the day-to-day development of Ubuntu itself..."

    I continue to scratch my head at the Bazaar fork called Breezy (mentioned near the top of that article). I can't see why it exists or why someone would choose it, but... it exists.

  6. Presuming there are other developers besides me who periodically go looking for a simple visual catalog of code-colorizing styles, I'll share this page I made last weekend: dpaste.com/styles

  7. Product idea: commenting-as-a-service like , but with no text area, just a sparkly AI "write a comment for me" button.

  8. Back to using as my primary WM. I'm really attached to my setup. Minimalist, but tells me what I need. Recreating that in another WM turned out to be so tedious as to end the experiment.

    Awkward image size but, FWIW, from left to right:

    * username
    * workspaces (key:label)
    * layout
    * window/app
    ...
    * dropbox status
    * wifi status
    * battery level ("^" charging, "_" discharging)
    * volume level
    * backlight level
    * date and time

  13. One of the downsides of heavy use of UI toolkits and widgetry is that things like the `maxlength` attribute can get forgotten.

  14. Any other longtime #Macos users remember the "secret" slo-mo window minimize effect? It was done by shift-clicking the yellow (minimize) button. Apple disabled it many years ago, but as #daringfireball reveals, it's actually still there!

    TLDR: `defaults write com.apple.dock slow-motion-allowed -bool YES; killall Dock`

  19. So according to Strava, I've saved 5kg of carbon by bike commuting this week. I looked it up and that would be worth well over $.02 on the carbon exchange market.

  20. My current gig uses for HR. It’s been inoffensive… until today when it rejected my proposed new password because it exceeded the maximum allowed length of 14 (!!) characters.

    Lucky for them they also don’t have any feedback mechanism i could find, so they were spared me sending them the password guidelines…

  21. Ok, so #Humax is in the bin.

    I'm after a #freeview #pvr - does anyone have any recommendations.

    Would be nice to have iplayer/itvx etc - not a requirement, have a firestick too.
