  5. ugh - that was a double snake head, had to reprovide whole #trunk from on-site #PBX as trying to set interPBX trunk up with authentication didn't work, and caused the firewall to snag it at the other end as potential hacker (at least that proves the security software works!)

  6. What am I fishing for here? #telephone calls 😁

This is all above board (as its internal monitoring)- but old tech way is surprisingly most GDPR compliant - it separates call metadata (which I don't want, I can get that from other sources) from audio which I do want.

I'm not even interested in exact *content* of calls here, what I'm monitoring is overall audio quality to make sure nothing is glitched / daleked at our end now calls are 100% #VOIP (alas, I can't do anything about ropey #LTE networks our staff and service users might be using)

I'm also testing how #Grandstream #ATA and cloud #PBX handle long telephone calls (such as intercept feed from the other #PBX)

Contents of #tape are not kept long term, they are be erased once I've assessed the audio quality..

  9. How difficult would it be to set up a #PBX at home and make it callable from the PSTN? :3c
  10. Progress has been slow but now I have the first revision of my modular analog PBX back plane PCB in my hands! ☎️

This board has eight line card slots for either FXS or FXO interfaces and three generic expansion slots, ring generator using an H-bridge plus external step-up transformer, progress tones, DTMF decoder (and pulse dialing of course), four simultaneous calls with balanced audio paths. Now I can finally hook up my modems without messing with VoIP! #pbx #retrocomputing #pcbway

  11. The FXS line interface cards plugs into a backplane carrier board that handles audio routing and control. The current phone exchange prototype has four line card slots but the design and software is made for eight. Four audio busses allows for four active calls in parallel and supports both pulse dialing and DTMF dialing, meaning those nice classic phones and modems can be used as well! #pbx #retrocomputing

  12. After fiddling with various VoIP adapters and Asterisk for way too many hours trying to get modem traffic to pass reasonably well I decided the world needs a new and open analog phone exchange project! Let’s see how far I can take it. These boxes are usually the start of a fun evening. 🧵 1/n

  13. I spent today with a friend troubleshooting the “non-multiple extension phone” relayset he’s built for his GPO HES4 demo

It’s a reproduction of the original “House Exchange System No4” equipment, which is impossible to find these days.

We confirmed the fault, know what the cause is (his electronic can’t source enough current to operate the differential D relay) but we can’t fix it… yet!

  15. I want to develop a phone system so I have an excuse to buy all the phones. You know, for provisioning support, and not at all to put them all on a wall and into a ring group that coincidentally sounds like Darude's Sandstorm when you call it.

  16. Nothing quite like needing to figure out a #pbx system in under 2 months. #asteriskpbx looks good, but I need to investigate the #sangoma #phone lineup, or at least see what phones I can modify to work with it.

That said, I'm still stuck without my server, but I'll at least have my router, which I can put a small LXC container on to test Asterisk.

Someone have exp in gentoo or derivates as #PortrusKiosk or #pbxware??

Someone have exp in CleaverOS installation??

  18. @pbx Thanks for reading :) I've not actually used before, sorry.
I have used in the past (aws.github.io/chalice), but found the function response times to be super slow compared to when deployed using (I guess maybe due to functions not being kept warm enough, somehow)

  19. Cloud PBX: virtual telephony made simple

Cloud PBX replaces traditional phone systems with flexible, software-driven infrastructure.
It allows call routing, IVR, and analytics without hardware or local setup.
Ideal for remote and hybrid teams.

    Key takeaway:
Business telephony can live entirely in the cloud — secure, reliable, and efficient.
